I'm going trout fishing this weekend, and I need to know, is 4 or 6 lb test mono better for trout, I have read many answers and the results are mixed, some people like 4 others like 6, any thoughts? Thanks. -Alex

When is the best time to use a buzzbait? Also, what is the best knot to use? I have tried using a Palomar knot, but every time I tie it, I can move the knot side to side with my finger, (it's loose). Any suggestions? Thanks -Alex

Can't you just slow reel a 7.X:1 and get the same action as a 6.X:1?

Sorry for all of these reel questions, but can you use a 7.3:1 baitcaster for square bill crankbaiting, spinnerbaits, swimming jigs, topwaters, etc. or should you only use a 7.3:1 for pitching and worming? Thanks. -Alex

Thanks for everyone's responses, I think I will try a left handed baitcaster. I'm somewhat ambidextrous, so I should be able to get comfortable reeling in left handed. Thanks again. -Alex

I don't know if this is a thing, but do right handed people use left handed baitcasters? I've been wondering/debating about getting a left handed baitcaster (eventhough I'm right handed), because I can control the rod much better, and set the hook more powerfully right handed, but reeling left handed is a little awkward to me, any thoughts? Hello, my name is Alex, I am a young angler at 15 years old. I have also been fishing for 10 years. I live in Missouri, close to St. Louis. My favorite lake to fish is Crab Orchard Lake, where I caught my 6 lbs PB LMB. I joined this site to be able to interact with fellow anglers, and talk about a hobby/profession, that we all love. What is the best "all purpose" gear ratio, I want the reel to be multi-purpose, (crankbaits, jigs, worms, etc.) should I be looking at a 6:X.1 or a 7:X.1? -Alex
