  1. I live here in WI and have never heard of it before. But then again not many people I know around here wacky rig, and up until this year that's been my main technique for bass. Trying to expand my arsenal now with frogs, spinners, and the Ned Rig.
  2. My God! Definitely gotta try that on my next Ned Rig outing. I have a feeling this technique is gonna blow up within the next year or two.
  3. Yesterday I decided to really work the Ned Rig and see what I could do. I had my 1/16 oz ShroomZ with a black/blue flake TRD. I ended up with 30 largemouth caught! Such a fun way to fish. I will be trying it with the YUM Warning Shot as well in the future.
  4. Awesome, thanks for the replies! Now I guess I can see what all the hype is about with the Sexy Frog. See if it compares to the luck I've been having with Pad Crashers.
  5. I found this frog hanging in a tree while I was bass fishing today. It has a rattle in it. Anybody know what brand it is? Just curious. All I've ever frogged with is Booyah frogs because I have such good luck with them. In case anybody wondered how I did fishing today, I caught 30 bass on my first Ned Rig outing! Pretty awesome.
  6. I took off the 17lb mono and spooled up my Pro Max with 50lb 832 braid this morning. Casted around the yard a few times and it feels good. Hopefully I'll be able to test it out around some pads tomorrow before work.
  7. Yes the Abu Garcia is a baitcaster, and was thinking of doing exactly what you said except I'm partial to Sufix 832 and already have a fresh spool of 50 lb to use. Either that, or I saw a Lews Laser MG 7' medium heavy combo for $99 I thought of buying. Would still like one rod for spinners/cranks. And funny you mention it, I have dedicated an older 6' medium I have for Ned rigging. This weekend was my first time trying it. Seems like it could be a lot of fun!
  8. Yeah you're probably right. The Pflueger was my old wacky rig setup before I bought the Fenwick/Shimano. I could always just keep that Plueger for when my girlfriend comes with I guess lol.
  9. I've been using my 6' medium Pflueger President setup with 10lb braid to throw topwater frogs around lillypads. (I caught a 20" bucketmouth on it Saturday!) I know it's way underpowered and I need to upgrade. I've got a 7' medium heavy Abu Garcia Pro Max with 17lb mono on that I haven't really used much. I was thinking about swapping the line, putting the 17lb mono on my President for cranks and spinners, and putting on some 50lb braid to the Pro Max. Think that would be sufficient for working frogs through thick cover? I'm fairly new to topwater and mainly wacky rig 90% of the time on a 7' Fenwick/Shimano setup.
  10. Anybody ever tried a YUM Warning Shot with a ZMAN ShroomZ jig for the Ned Rig? I have TRDs on order but will be out fishing already when they come in the mail. Figured a Warning Shot might work decent for now. Any thoughts or prior experience with this combo?
  11. I live in Bloomer and do a ton of largemouth fishing but would love to catch some smallmouth. I've only ever caught one (in Montreal, WI). Aside from Long Lake I don't know any good areas for smallies around here. I'd like some suggestions too if anyone is willing. I catch and release, if that helps at all.
  12. That's a good idea, thanks! I actually have some Big Bite gray/silver ones I could play around with. Now I'll just have to order some Mend-It.
  13. I've never used mend it before, just recently heard of it actually. You're suggesting mixing something silver into the mend it, or sharpie the senko then put mend it over the top of that?
  14. I'd really, really like to find a silver dye. I will try some of these other ones in the meantime though. Thanks everyone for the input. I just wish there was a way to cure the metallic silver sharpie onto the soft plastics.
  15. I have looked into Spike-It but didn't notice a silver color. I think I saw black though so I could try that. I have about 40 different bags of senko style 5" worms, all different brands and colors. 90% of the time I just wacky rig, I love it. Just kinda wanted to experiment a bit with customizing. I have a lot of success with the YUM black red flake with a silver tip. I wanted to add a silver tip to some of the others.
  16. Hi all, I'm new to the site so I'm sorry if this has been brought up before. I did a search and didn't see anything already posted. Anyway, just curious if anybody colors their senkos with sharpie to customize them? Personally I like a black or silver tip on my senkos. The only problem is the sharpie never seems to dry on them. Any ideas I should try? Thanks.
