  1. That gear ratio advice makes sense, thanks. I mostly fish from my boat which is just a 14' aluminum with no storage. I lay my rods across the bench seats so a 7' 6" shouldn't be a problem boat-wise.
  2. I see they actually sell this as a combo on there too, never noticed that. So what I'm gathering is lower gear ratio for cranking then? Can someone sell me on the 7' 6" over the 7' rod? I don't own any rods over 7' yet.
  3. I noticed the BB1 doesn't have the magnetic braking system like the other baitcasters have. Not an issue? I assume not since they get such high praise.
  4. Thanks for the input guys. I haven't done much cranking but have a good handful of crankbaits I want to utilize. And yes, I had planned on using it for spinners too.
  5. Docks, laydowns, lilly pads, even empty shoreline. I throw the wacky rig literally anywhere. Rarely do I throw it out in the open, but anywhere along shoreline and structure.
  6. I've decided to get a dedicated crankbait setup and think I've narrowed it down. Thinking of going with a 7' mh BPS Crankin Stick Casting Rod and a Lew's BB1 Speed Spool. Anybody compare the Crankin Stick and a Lew's David Fritts Perfect Crank Speed Stick? Those are the two rods I was deciding between.
  7. I never Texas rig them, always wacky rig. As of right now, I've caught 237 bass this year wacky rigging. That's 72% of all my bass caught this year.
  8. I've only missed a couple bass on the Ned Rig. I use a 6' medium rod with 8lb mono and it seems to work very well.
  9. I've mostly just used the I Know It color since that was the first one I got. Can never go wrong with a white/chartruese combo. I've only thrown Munky Butt one time out and Bluegill is still coming through the mail.
  10. Seems like people either slay with the Plopper or can't even buy a bite. I like the 90 so much I just ordered a 3rd one. Now I have the I Know It, Munky Butt, and Bluegill colors.
  11. I'm pretty handy, it'll be easy to rig something up. Only using it when I'm fishing solo anyways.
  12. That was the point of buying the tripod. I know how to not kill fish, I'm no rookie. My question was to see if other people use the same setup. And apparently post non-relevant information to a discussion.
  13. Just a basic 14 footer with a 7.5hp and trolling motor, but she gets the job done. I catch the same fish in my uncle's $20,000 boat lol.
  14. Tonight at Wal Mart I had planned on buying a selfie stick to somehow mount in my boat for when I'm fishing solo and need to get a picture with a nice catch. Instead, I found a remote controlled tripod for $15 that seems like it could work pretty great. Has anybody else tried this type of setup? I just have a 14' aluminum boat, nothing fancy.
  15. I throw my 90 Plopper on 17lb mono with a medium heavy fast action rod. I've never had a palomar knot come loose. If I'm using braid, I use a double palomar. I usually retie at the end of the day. If I were to retie after every fish I wouldn't have any line left lol.
  16. I'm in the same boat.... no pun intended. I've caught 24 bass on the 90 and 0 so far on the 130. I definitely haven't used the 130 enough to compare though. Haven't used my Double Plopper enough to really judge it yet either.
  17. My favorite frog is the Poppin Pad Crasher in the Aqua Frog color, or Shad Frog kills too.
  18. Absolutely! Great to cover a lot of water, and I'd imagine it will really get bedding bass agitated. I love throwing this thing around laydowns and under low hanging branches. I've caught multiple pike on this too, but that's the risk you run in WI lol.
  19. Keep trying guys, don't give up on it yet! Caught my biggest Plopper bass today, but did not weigh it. What a fun fight!
  20. Funny this topic came up today, as it was the first day I ever used my bluegill. I've had it all season and kinda forgot about it. I was throwing my poppin pad crashers like normal today, and bass kept hitting it short. I decided to tie on the bluegill as it has no skirt. Almost immediately started hooking up! Awesome bait if you ask me. I'll be playing with it again tomorrow.
  21. I've smacked mine on the side of my boat a few times, no damage done. I wouldn't purposely hit it against anything hard though. I've had more luck under overhanging trees than docks. I'm sure both will produce at the right time though.
  22. I always like trying new baits and techniques so this was a natural buy for me. I'm curious to see how it runs plain, and with a trailer on it. I'm happy to see it comes with a bait holder on the hook. I'm thinking a small chartruese curly tail grub would look awesome on this particular one.
  23. Luckily the worst I have to worry about where I fish are pike. I've caught a handful of them on the regular whopper plopper and haven't had any issues. I think I paid $17 for mine. I've never really considered any baits "gimmicks" except for the ones on infomercials lol. If it catches me fish, it's worth the money. We'll find out soon enough!
  24. I throw a lot of frogs, and 8 of the 13 I have are either Pad Crashers or Poppin Pad Crashers. Booyah makes awesome frogs with a very affordable price. I've never had much luck with the other brands I have.
  25. I finally got my hands on the Double Plopper. Now my only question is how I want to tie it on. Direct tie, swivel, split ring? I think I'll be throwing it with my medium heavy Abu Garcia Pro Max and 50lb braid since I'm gonna work it through pads. Thoughts?
