  1. The main selling point on the mustang for me was the tech that prevents the pfd from inflating until its under 4" of water
  2. Well i went ahead and bought the Mustang Survival for the wife and myself. Got a good deal on them ($70 off each one). Now I hope mine fits me. Did a quick measure and I should have 2 inches to spare haha. Thanks for the input and the shaming, looking at you Ajay .
  3. If you enjoy all kinds of fishing, then you should try the kokanee fishing on whiskeytown. Many people can limit out in an hour or two. Might be worth a shot.
  4. I'm a little sad at my two state list (California and Iowa). I guess i need to get out more and explore
  5. Well i have a week off coming up in September. First half of the week is going to be spent in Oregon fishing the coast for rock cod and ling cod. The second half of the week I want to take the wife to fish either Black Butte lake or Lake Britton (better yet, both). I was hoping someone has some info on how to approach either of these lakes. Thanks in advance.
  6. That is a monster haha. We had a few of those on sunday.
  7. Well we had our best day ever on this tough lake this past Sunday. We got on the water at 0800 and were off by 1600. We landed 11 bass in total, only 3 keepers. You might be wondering why I am so excited about this. Before Sunday, the most bass we have caught from this lake in one day was 2. The day was a day of firsts for us. It was the first time I have landed more than 2 bass (previously stated). The first time my wife landed more than 1 bass in a day at this lake, she landed 5 in total. It was also the first time she landed a keeper on this lake (a nice little fat 14 incher). It was also the first time I landed a fish using a bait caster (big accomplishment for me), while also being the first time I caught a fish while pitching. I seemed to get much more excited when I catch a fish here as opposed to other lakes. I think it is due to how hard this lake is to fish. It's safe to say we will be fishing here more often.
  8. Most I've had in a row was somewhere around 7 or 8. This last spring we found a creek on Shasta lake and the bass were just sitting and waiting for food to come by. A five inch grub was exactly what they were wanting. Congrats on the fun day.
  9. Certainly came out sounding that way
  10. Thanks for the replies... Im leaning towards onyx due to the price
  11. Just like the title states, I am looking for an auto inflatable life jacket that would fit me. I am north of 300 lbs and am wondering what you guys think would work for me. Thanks in advance.
  12. I'm fairly new to bass fishing (1 year seriously into it) and therefore only have one small story to tell. I went fishing with a buddy of mine mid march. I was using a drop shot while my buddy was throwing a grub on a jig head. The fish were in a biting mood and we were catching one after another in quick succession. I was starting to get slightly annoyed because for every fish I would catch, another would rip my worm off the hook; mean while, my buddy was able to just use the one bait. I was starting to run out of my drop shot baits when I noticed one of my worms floating on top of the water near the boat. I leaned down quickly to grab the bait, and before I knew it, i was going end over end into the 50 degree water, pole and all. I somehow managed to keep my pole out of the water (sort of a "saved my beer" kind of move). My buddy helped me back into the boat and I fished the rest of the day shirtless and dripping wet. I did however land my PB that morning, so it has been a running joke that if I want to catch quality fish, I need to go for a swim first.
  13. Exactly what you bought them for....we are gonna need pictures of the final product!
  14. My wife and I are both in law enforcement and as such, we work opposite shifts. We fish as a way of getting to be together. I got her into fishing and she has really taken a liking to it. We fish because it became a shared passion and a way for us to become closer as a couple.
  15. Signed the petition, it took me 30 seconds to complete....everyone on Bass resource should sign, BTW, according to the article, we only have 4 more days until the petition needs to be delivered.
  16. any day that starts off like that can only go down hill if work is involved...nice fish
  17. Im thinking of putting some on the line, i feel like the vibration of the frog would work well under water.
  18. I'm just wondering if anyone has attempted to use a soft plastic frog, like the Z man hard leg frog, on a C-rig. And if so, did you have any luck.
  19. The fish calculator from Bass Resource states up to 11 lbs for those measurements....so i would guess eight at minimum.
  20. It will not be like it has been the past several years. They will let out a similar amount of water as they usually do, only the lake is starting over 100 feet up from its highest point last year. Same applies to shasta. Ive heard the prediction for shasta is to fall down to around 75' to 80' at its lowest this year. Last year the highest mark was 72' for the entire year.
  21. That is one awesome bass and a nice review of the product, thanks for sharing.
  22. Might be tough, but i say you nailed that selfie
  23. Well it wasnt my catch, but my Father landed this beauty on my 21st birthday. 42 inch 29 lbs lingcod.
  24. Probably not my smallest, but this is the most recent one on film. Caught on a 5 inch grub and 1/4 oz ball head jig.
