  1. Well im at 73 posts (so maybe 50 meaningful) maybe ill be eligible for this next year, seems like an awesome idea.
  2. Its mostly spotted bass but we usually land one or two small mouth a trip. There used to be a healthy population of florida strain lmb but they have declined quite a bit since their heyday in the late 70s. The lakes water level fluctuates a lot every year (drawdowns as low as 170ft from full pool some times) and the lmb dont seem to survive as well in the lake
  3. About 98% finesse fish due to the fact that it is what I catch fish on. I try power fishing and rarely have success so I go back to what I am comfortable with.
  4. Its been a while since I posted a report or had anything worth posting about. The wife and I went out on Sunday and were met with some COLD weather (at least for a Cali boy). Weather started about 35 degrees and never got above 45. There was not too much wind and the bite was very slow. All together my wife and I landed 8 bass, 7 of them keepers and 6 were around 2 lbs (not to bad for Shasta). I could not get on a pattern as I only landed 3 bass for the day, all on different baits. I landed 1 on a 1/2 oz football jig with a six inch GYCB single tail grub, 1 on a 1/4 oz ball head jig with a five inch curly tail grub, and 1 on a 1 oz tailspin (my first bass on this bait). My wife found some success on a 1/4 oz ball head jig with a five inch curly tail grub, as she landed all five of her bass using this. Today was the first day this year that neither of use caught at least one using drop shot. Even though it was a slow day, still worth the time and effort and still fun being with the wife. My biggest of the day (caught in the mouth of a small waterfall) Biggest of the day (my wife is very adept at making bass look their biggest) Only posted this picture because it was the first bass caught on a tail spin and my first on my Heavy casting rod
  5. Now I did not even come close to 200 days (probably in the 75-100 days range) I will say it is easy to stay married and fish that much. Just bring the wife with you.
  6. This has got to go in the books as one of the top 5 World Series ever
  7. Well I got into bass fishing (well seriously at least) this past march when My wife and I bought our first bass boat. When we started we found the most success using GYB twin tail hula grub (in Blue Pearl Sv Flk) on a football jig. Then as the spring progressed I started finding success with the drop shot using either a roboworm (any color ending in shad) or a BioSpawn PlasmaTail (Green Pumpkin Plasma). I have also found a lot of success (including my PB) using a single tail grub ( I prefer either GYB or Kalin) in either rootbeer, green pumpkin or a white based color. So in no particular order GYB Twin Tail Hula Grub (Blue Pearl Sv Flk) Roboworm Biospawn PlasmaTail (Green Pumpkin Plasma) GYB/Kalin Single Tail Grub (4-5 in Bet you wish I just listed those to begin with haha
  8. I am like you, in the fact that I have just started using baitcasters. I dont have a number for you in terms of casts, but I will say I backlash every time I take my mind off of the cast.
  9. I must admit, I am greatly enjoying following these competitions you are having with your dad, I wish I could get my dad to go along with something like this, but he enjoys trolling more than bass fishing.
  10. I wish I understood fishing rods and reels more thoroughly when i started. This would have saved me some money as I have a few fishing rods and reels that are not what I want and I could have avoided buying them by doing some research.
  11. Caught this beautiful brown trout while drop shotting a tube
  12. Went out ocean fishing in Brookings Or for our anniversary. We caught some nice lingcods and a nice cabazon.
  13. Thanks for the advice, charging hasnt seemed to be an issue, but then again i havent been happy with the batteries in a while so that could have been caused by the charger... Once again thank you for the help
  14. I know there are quite a few posts on the forums about trolling motor batteries. I know this because I have read quite a few. My question is, is there a problem with using two different size batteries? Right now my trolling motor is running off a size 29 and a size 27 (the previous owner had it set up this way and I haven't changed it yet). I would love to run two 29 size batteries but there is not enough room for it. Now it is time to replace my batteries, should I keep the same set up, or switch to two size 27 batteries? As always, Thanks in advanced.
  15. well ill be happy to add 2 ounces on my catches
  16. A-Jay, was that easy to "zero" with the added weight of the fish gripper
  17. awesome, thanks for the info. We will give it another go
  18. We went out there tonight as well, but only for 30 mins to check out the ponds. We could not find the back two ponds. Are they only accessed by foot?
  19. Ill have to try them out... They are only 5 mins from my house
  20. Thanks for the reply... Starting to think this area wasnt well represented... Are those ponds easy to fish from the shore?
  21. Mine just arrived... The CO2 unit says to change it in 2021 so roughly 5 years is my guess
  22. 5 inch single tail grub on a 1/4 oz ball head jig. Craw colors in the spring and shad colors in the summer and fall. Probably caught 75% of my fish on this one bait
  23. I got them for 180 a piece and the shipping was minimal. I purchased them from Hodges Marine online. The shipping is taken a long time though, just an fyi. I dont have an answer for you on this one sorry.
  24. Anyone from the Redding area like to fish the ponds around here? Any good ponds that are open to the public? Or anyone have access to some private ponds? Just looking to fish some ponds in the evenings before work.
