Dropped reel into the water
I was using braided, and it all like clumped together kind of. Next time I used the reel all of line was just spinning on the spool. Sounds like it's not too big of a deal.

Dropped reel into the water
So as I was launching for the first time with my new kayak, I let my Daiwa Revros and rod fall into the water. It was only submerged for a few second, but I had to change the line and I have noticed it is slightly noisier than before. What is the best thing to do when this happens? Should I take it apart and clean it? Any info greatly appreciated, thanks!

Swimbait rod, reel,line?
I recently got my first swimbait setup. I spent just over $200. I got the Okuma Guide Select Heavy MF Swimbait Stick which is rated for 1-6oz lures and an Abu Garcia C3 Ambassadeur. I put some P-Line CXX Extra Strong moss green copolymer 25lb test. I love it so far, it is so fun to cast. If you want a different reel, or want to spend some more money the Shimano Cardiff and Calcutta are very well regarded.

Choosing first fishfinder; Is CHIRP worth it?
Hello! I am looking at getting my first fish finder for my kayak, my budget is kind of flexible, I want to spend around $300. I mainly bass fish in lakes. I have been looking at Lawrence and Raymarine. I wanted a Humminbird at first, but I do not like that they don't have "real" down imaging. My friend has been giving me **** and just telling me to get a humminbird or lowrance because those are the best, but he has never even heard of raymarine. The ray marine I was looking at has the frequencies as "CHIRP 170-230; Down Vision: 320-380", but from research, that doesn't seem like the best for shallow/lake fishing right? Also, Gander Mtn has a really good deal on an Elite 5 HDI, but it does not have CHIRP. How important is that for the type of fishing I do? Thank you, any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

What is my rod/reel combo best used for?
Good to know. As I expand the number of rods and reels I own, I suppose I will have to look at 1-piece even if it less convenient.

What is my rod/reel combo best used for?
Just because I live in an apartment, and have a sedan, not a truck. I fish a lot and don't really want to have to be constantly putting the back seat up and down, plus i like keeping the rods in the trunk just in case. Not having a garage and a truck is a real drag :\ Are there any downsides of having a 2-piece?

Hello from Sonoma County, CA!
Hello! Grew up in San Jose, fished Lexington Reservoir a lot and many other smaller lakes, ponds and reservoirs. I know live in Sonoma County and recently found a friend who also likes to fish. We have been going to about a 4-acre pond where we have been pretty successful. I am looking to explore all the bodies of water in my area. Excited to join the forum! Recently bought a new baitcaster and spinning set-up. You can see my other post for more about that. Any other northern california fishermen here?

What is my rod/reel combo best used for?
Hello! I am brand new to the forum. I grew up in Northern California, and did a fair amount of bass fishing with my dad. Now, I am fishing without my dad, and realizing I have a lot to learn! I just got a new 6'6 Fenwick medium-fast rod (I really wanted a 2-piece, 7' med-heavy, but the 2piece was hard to find at my price point) and an Abu Garcia Pro Max 7.1:1 baitcaster. I got this because I was using an old setup from my dad that really needed replacing. I also recently got the Daiwa Revros spinning combo. My friend I fish with a lot asked me "what are you trying to use it for?" regarding the baitcaster, and I felt stupid when I said I wasn't sure. So, my question is what is this setup best for? What will give me the most "bang for the buck" if you will. I just don't want to be trying casting stuff with it that it isn't really meant for. For example, is it best for worms, jerbaits, finesse etc etc. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
