  1. Thanks for all the info. Seems like the diawa reels are the way to go. Seems like everyone is recommending those.
  2. Well that's no bueno. Thanks for info. It's kind of disappointing, one might think if they let the public in to get a sneak peak and get hands on future items that sales would go up or if they sold some of the items at the show that would make money.
  3. Hello everyone, has anyone attended the ICAST show in the past? How is it? Is it worth it? Do they have seminars/clinics? Autograph signings? Any info would be helpful. Thanks
  4. What I have done is, if I feel something, I'll continue to slowly lift the rod. If a fish is on, the fish tends to swim away and you can definitely feel that. Once you do, set the hook. I have no idea if this is a right technique or good technique but it seems to work for me.
  5. Thanks for the info. I have never used an expensive rod/reel set up. When buying $200 for a rod and reel combo what is the best way of choosing? sensitivity is going to change from person to person so reviews give you an idea but how do you know it will work for you?
  6. Hey guys, I've been looking at the Mach crush but can not find a whole lot about specifics or any good video reviews. Does any one have any experience? Some sites says it's IM8 graphite some say IM6? What is the lure rating of the rod? Sensitivity ? Castability? It did win ICAST so it has to be good right? How do they determine a winner for ICAST?
  7. How can you tell if a medium rod is as stout as a medium heavy? It so much in this forum but others I ha e read said that their mediums depending on the brand acts like their medium heavy from another brand? Short answer is using it.
  8. Thanks, I haven't thought about that. Why the Dobyns over the others? Just curious.
  9. Thanks for the suggestion. The zolo rods are a little too pricy for me. I'm just a casual weekend fisherman.
  10. Thanks for the info, the rods I'm looking at are "all well rounded" occorsing to reviews and such. I'm really leaning towards 13 fishings fate bc it won't rod of the year but the weights are 3/8-3/4 which isn't a very big range and I plan on using it for Texas rigs and jigs.
  11. My biggest question is does the suggested lure weight effect casting if the lure is under that suggest weight?
  12. 7'3" fury casting rod
  13. Hello everyone, I'm looking to get two rods and reels. One for worm/jigs fishing and another rod for an all purpose (swimbaits, crankbaits etc.) I have a few in mind. Black fate 7"1 med hvy Lews tp1 7" med hvy Lews Mach speed med hvy- Lews Mach crush Dobins fury 7" med hvy For worms and jigs should I choose the one that is rated for the lightest weight to help casting distance? Thanks
  14. Thanks for all the great information. I'm currently fishing the south east side of Toledo bend. About 20 minutes south of cypress bend park. I'll check out the bassmasters magazines. Thanks again
  15. That's it. You're awesome thank you
  16. Hey everyone, I started to get into fishing about a year ago and have done ok for myself. my PB is around 5 pounds. However i recently when on a guided tour and didnt learn as much as I wanted. I was asking questions and the guide was giving vague answers. some of my questions are below and if you guys could help me anwser them that would be great. Thanks 1. I asked " what makes one spot of the lake better then others?" "why are we fishing these lilly pads vs the grass line over there?" his reply was find the bait. if you find the bait you find the bass. He wasnt able to tell me how to find the bait. so guys, lol how do you find the bait? especially if you have never been to a lake before. 2. "why are you using crankbait vs a swimbait or spinnerbait? the guide wasnt very helpful on explaining why one lure was a better option then another lure. these were some of the questions. Please any insight will be very helpful.
  17. Hey everyone, I was watching the bassmasters elite series awhile back and one of the anglers catches like 8-9 bass on 10 cast. It was crazy to watch. However I have not been able to fine the video. If anyone has any information on who this was or where i can fine the video that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  18. I read somewhere awhile back and now can not find the article. It was describing how these 2 lures are fished the same. Just wanted to confirm with you guys if these are fished the same or how are they fished differently. Thanks
  19. Hello, I'll be visiting Orlando in the near future and was wondering if anyone could recommended a great guide. Thank you
  20. Can anyone describe the difference between the two? I have tried to google it and haven't come up with anything.
  21. How many people have converted from bank fishing to kayak? Was it worth it? I move every couple of years and never know where I'm moving to and if the new location will have lakes near by to kayak fish in. I'm debating on if buying a kayak is worth it. All opinions are welcome. Thanks
  22. To use a swimbait as a top water, do you just keep the rod tip up and fast reel it ?
  23. Does anyone have any experience with these swimbaits? What was the outcome? How do they swim? Fast or slow retrieve ?
  24. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it turns out. Thanks
