I just got done slapping this together:
  2. My partner and I passed through there on patrol a couple days ago. It's like something out of a horror movie.
  3. Here's my recce-esque 6.5 Grendel piston build -
  4. Well, I originally built it with myself in mind but now the wife is trying to claim it. Oh, and I finished that 13.7 I posted a while back -
  5. I realize this thread is a little, well, old but Whiskeytown has turned into one of my favorite fishing spots. There's almost nobody ever out there, it's just a couple minutes from town and you avoid a lot of tweaker issues by skipping on the local ponds. There's decent fish in there too, here's a couple I pulled out this afternoon:
  6. Whiskeytown has been producing ok for me the last little bit.
  7. Here's a new build I've been working on. Anyone else got anything new in the works lately?
  8. It's the Shellback Banshee. It's not bad for the price but I got to try out a buddy's PIG from SKD and that's probably what I'll be swapping it out for before too long.
  9. I guess they're OK
  10. Yeah. If you keep driving back into the trees you come to a little dirt path you can follow around to the ponds. Either that or follow the path to the right of the first pond and walk through the gate about 150 yards in, walk down that little trail for another 50 yards or so and you're there. Those ponds are much smaller but a whole lot more fishable.
  11. A buddy and I went out there today and killed it with frogs. Definitely do try it though, weekends can be a little busy but if you go during the week you'll have your run of the place.
  12. No problem, man. The first one you see pulling in on the left not so much, there's a couple spots but not much action unless you have a kayak. The others you can fish from the bank pretty easy. There's not really monsters out there but it's still a convenient little spot.
  13. There's some behind the Jolly Giant in Anderson that aren't too bad for a quick trip.
  14. Now that there is impressive. What kind of distance was that at?
  15. Between work and school just starting up I've been busier than a one legged man in an...nevermind. Anyway, the last couple days I've managed to get a little time between class and work to hit the pond. I was also finally able to get my very first fish on frogs. They aren't giants or anything but the way they hit that Pad Crasher is almost addicting.
  16. Nicely done, man. I absolutely love it out there but besides a few decent trout I haven't had much luck. I mean, except for this monster the other day -
  17. Last winter I got into long range shooting and put together a little setup for making expensive holes in paper and banging steel. It was all sorts of fun and the girlfriend and I were able to stretch out to just over a half mile but the world dried out, the wind started blowing and the ranges closed up shop until we get a little more moisture. We're hoping to push out past 1k yards and maybe, maybe, get the chance to attempt a mile when things start turning green again. Anyway, here is the setup before I got carried away with a rattle can- Here's what huffing paint fumes will do to you- It's nothing crazy, but here's my best five shot 100 yard group so far- And here is where I go to find peace- So what do you guys got?
  18. Well that would be Shasta County's good old Redding. Also, thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
  19. Thanks, man!
  20. Hey there, guys, my name's Dylan and I'm a pretty lousy fisherman. Guns are my first love but with the way things are going nowadays and with how dry it can get here, I figured I needed something to keep me busy over the summer. At least that's how it all started a few months back, this slope is a slippery one. In the last few months I've had a blast catching dinky panfish, trout, channel cats and most recently a couple nice snapper on the Gulf but now I'm setting my sights on bass. I've only caught two largemouths in the last 10 years so I'm pretty much on step one here. I'm here to absorb all the information I can and from a brief scan of the forums it looks like there is plenty of it. Besides fishing, I keep busy with work, building rifles, pretending I know how to shoot handguns, the occasional cigar and pining over pony cars (may my Mustang rest in peace). Anyway, fine looking site you have here, fellas. Looking forward to hopefully being able to contribute one of these days.
