  1. I punch from my float tube and a yak. I have better results using a roll cast. You are already low to the water. A nice easy roll cast can give close to the same entry as a pitch.
  2. 6 plus are normal sturgeon. Lol 20 foot is stupid rare even for the Columbia. I've fished Oregon sturgeon several times. One thing to mention is for targeting huge sturgeon you will need serious gear. 7/0 to 9/0 hooks, 8 foot rods etc might even look at a shimano tiagra 2 speed non level wind reel!
  3. Nailed it! As far as a versatility, I think the fury 734 is hard to beat! Lots of comparable "good rods" but the fury 734 is extremely versatile! In a pinch I've thrown weightless worms, senkos, drop shot with 1/4 oz, spinnerbaits, lighter t rigs or jigs, whopper plopper a and small swimbaits!
  4. Very rare these days at least in California. 12 footers are like catching a 14 lb bass and 20 footers lol that's like a 20 lb bass
  5. Sweet I'm a little nervous lol you know fishing is a huge part of your life when you are offered a job close to double your salary and the first question you ask is "how's the fishing"
  6. Size all day everyday
  7. Lol up to 10 feet. We routinely catch 5 and 6 footers
  8. I use a Cardiff 401. I may be a bit under gunned I don't know lol. I fish the Sacramento River system for them every year. Works for me
  9. I've fished Shasta. I've heard whiskey town is ruff but I also hear there are giants there lol
  10. Anybody fish it? My job is relocating me to Redding ca and I'm curious on any info I can get.
  11. Heads up the Dobyns furys are a secret "gen 2" and come with improved guides! The guides on a fury you buy today are better than the guides the fury was originally sold with lol
  12. Also the limited has that handle! I called pflueger to buy an extra spool and just for grins inquired on the price of the limiteds handle. It was like 35 bucks!
  13. I'm so going to do this!!!! A light split shot rig with a drop shot tied 14 inches up. Love it.
