  1. My tackle is stuffed into a 370 Series BPS tacklebag. It holds TONS of stuff and then some. Great bag for the price too, I think it was on sale for $29.88 AFTER I bought it . 2. I wouldn't risk it if it were me. Like flechero, why risk a fish of a life time over a few dollars?
  3. For casting, more guides are best. You want the line OFF your rod because that causes a lot of breakoffs. The line rubbing on your rod will cause a lot of friction and often breaks. I'm not sure if this goes for spinning rods though.
  4. This is a hard one... probly as a general bait the crankbait or jerkbait simply because i've never taken time to use them. i am 50/50 when it comes to the c-rig.
  5. The only two things I dont like about living in iowa is the weather and the "smaller" fish compared to the southern states. One day early this spring i got the itch to try out a tiny local pond in the high wind and freezing-rain Because im only 14 i cant drive alone yet and mom wouldn't take me so i hopped on my bike and headed out, not having good feelings about the freezing rain or the fish. I get out there and tied on a 3-8 oz. custom white/chart. spinnerbait with a white colorado blade and caught a 2lb bass on the first cast. I went on that day to catch a pretty decent amount of bass with the biggest being roughly 4lbs. I fished till i couldn't feel my hands and decided to have mom come pick me up she wasn't too happy but couldn't believe i had luck. jdw174 those are some good stories you've got. hopefully i'll get a chance to pull out 100+ quality bass in a single day sometime, but I'm sure not everyone gets that lucky.
  6. I think bass are a "schooling" type fish which means running-and-gunning doesn't seem like it would be productives. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits and any reaction-bite lure seems to change your mind about that though. If you are sitting in a spot and fishing a pieces of structure for 20 minutes and catching only a few fish, running-and-gunning might be more productive when it comes to numbers of fish. IMHO, I think running-and-gunning it produces on average, smaller fish. I have caught more "big" fish on very slow presentations while spot fishing than running and gunning a spinnerbait or crank. I do not do just one of these techniques because some days call for finess fishing and the next might call for running-and-gunning. You have to let the conditions and fish tell you what to do. JMO
