  1. It only gets stuck intermittently, I guess I’m confused as to how lubrication would fix this?
  2. Anymore it feels like veering south of that price range is a dice roll unfortunately
  3. I have found outside of the first and last hour of the day during the dog days of summer, they are typically positioned in very predictable locations due to the low oxygen content. Most notably I seem to find them in moderate, deeper (3-5’) current or laminar flow behind boulders picking off forage, where I typically have to finesse them but occasionally can pry them off the bottom with a deep crank or jackhammer. However, I am wondering if I am missing potentially big bites by skipping the slower moving areas near these prime targets like undercut banks, weedlines & shallow flats left and right of the “line” down the middle where the river channel and current seam are. I’ve just had the importance of current this time of year drilled into my head so much that I skip most of that water unless it’s completely overcast, and even then I’m skeptical they stray from this pattern. What do you think?
  4. I have a Fuego (spinning) and a Tatula 200 (casting) which at the onset seemed comparable to my Stradic/Nasci & Curados, however within just a short time the Tatula spool release button has begun sticking and the Fuego has really lost its smoothness which is a shame as I generally like the ergonomics of their casting reels. All reels require maintenance but the Shimano reels I’ve owned have seemed to be much more resistant to basic wear than Daiwa. What is your experience?
  5. Is 80 lb fluoro absurd as well? What about 40-60? How difficult is it to tie a steel leader? Is there any line shy risk with it? Is that any different than this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AXZCS?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image
  6. What about just using a heavier piece of big game as leader, like 50-80 lb wouldn’t that be less prone to breakage than fluoro? Would connecting this the main line via swivel work?
  7. I have determined from my other thread that ultimately a steel leader is the only real way to truly guarantee protection from break offs to toothy fish on my glide bait setup, but that strong fluoro will impart less influence on the action and be less visible, is this correct? What about just using a heavier piece of big game as leader, like 50-80 lb wouldn’t that be less prone to breakage than fluoro? In either case, what is the cleanest way to attach these two leaders - end to end or via snaps/swivels? It seems that single strand stainless leader is only available in spools whereas fluro comes in both spools and pre-made leaders with swivels/snaps, although the better fluro is only available in rolls as well. How do I go about taking a strand of steel or fluoro leader material and fashioning it into a leader that I can attach to 20 lb big game, or should I use braid? Thank you! 🙏🏼
  8. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AXZCS?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image Bought this. Can I use a crimp or clasp like this to make loops at each end for snaps/swivels? https://www.amazon.com/Sanuke-Stainless-Thimbles-Aluminum-Crimping/dp/B08ZXQWKSB/ref=mp_s_a_1_8_sspa
  9. Yeah, how much will it impact the action How long does a leader need to be to steer clear of their gill plates?
  10. Any of it I can just buy and tie on to a swivel? I’d like to keep it as simple and fool proof as possible.
  11. How about this stuff, can I do better brand wise than this? If not what pound test & length? 12. I exclusively fish rivers, hoping they all potentially produce.
  13. I’ve been throwing 5-7” glide baits for a year now, and I’m really getting good at working, controlling and presenting the bait but I have not had the results I would like. I’m wondering if it isn’t possibly related to the colors I’ve been throwing? Have almost exclusively been throwing gray/silver natural Shad patterns. They look great but I have heard people say bone and white outproduce everything by far. Is this accurate or should I keep grinding? More than half of the appeal of buying and throwing these baits for me is aesthetic in nature, I love the beautiful paint jobs. A prime example of a lure catching a fisherman, however I would very much like to catch more fish with them. Anyone have any thoughts on the effectiveness of colors?
