Is there a way to swap out the handle of a Shimano Nasci 3000 for the one that is on the 2500?
I recently got the Nasci 3000 for one of my extra rods as it has more line capacity than the 2500 but is otherwise identical in shape and size (according to what I’ve read, correct me if I’m wrong.) Upon receiving it, I noticed the reel handle is different. Rather than the lateral rubber grip it has a vertical paddle that is just not nearly as ergonomic. Is it possible to swap it out and would it be difficult to get the part from Shimano or elsewhere?

Is there anything that compares to the Shimano Nasci at the $100 price point?
https://www.amazon.com/Daiwa-Fuego-LT-Spinning-Reel/dp/B07CTZSZ38 this it? Do I want “one size” or 5:3:1?

Is there anything wrong with having 3 identical setups?
I found myself stuck with three identical rods when I broke two over the summer and was forced to buy new ones to continue fishing without waiting on a replacement. I filed warranty claims for both and now have three 6’ St. Croix Premier ML rods. I have tried both M and L strengths and found this to be the best balance for the type of fishing I do (creek fishing for smallies with live bait on 8 lb test.) Gives me plenty of bend while still allowing me to hook into the big girls. This then brings me to needing reels. I have used a Shimano Nasci 2500 for a year now and am extremely happy with it, smoothest reel under $100 I’ve used. I just can’t see finding anything better at that price point. My question is, am I severely limiting myself in duplicating this setup three times or should I stick with what I know I like and just use different setups/rigs on each? Is there any benefit to trying 3 different reels? I didn’t think about it in my other thread but these are all spinning rods and so casting is not an option.

Strange, I’ve dunked mine and not experienced

Fortunately have not yet experienced this. I have had some friction caused by debris/sand when I dunked it but a cleaning/oiling fixed. Are Daiwa as smooth as Shimano?

What is binding?

I had a Pfleuger but Shimano feels much smoother.

I had a Pfleuger before upgrading to the Shimano and it was like a night and day difference in terms of smoothness. You didn’t notice this?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking, baitcasting is good for accuracy but the big benefit is distance and heavy line/tackle which I don’t need. I mostly throw live bait (crawdads and minnows) on 8 lb test.

Would baitcasting be better for creeks?

I’ve been very happy with my Nasci 2500, smoothest reel I’ve ever owned. I just got a couple warranty replacement rods from Saint Croix, looking to gear them up. Any recommendations or is Nasci my best option? I am almost entirely fishing creeks for smallmouth, have never thrown a baitcaster but would be open to possibly adding one provided there isn’t a huge learning curve.

Why have they still not fixed the glitch of the “like” buttons being blacked out?
Lol what?

Ok, my bad didn’t mean to be rude. It doesn’t look bad, I suppose I’m just a creature of habit ?

It’s been over a month. Better question, why did they even bother with the facelift at all? User interface and look of the boards were way better before. It seems every website or software feels like they have to tinker with things every year or two and fix something that isn’t broken, and it is almost always inferior to the previous design. Very annoying.

How does Saint Croix determine whether or not your rod was broken due to craftsmanship or an accident?
Just called, got a live voice right away, sent me the forms and said $50 for the two one-piece rods total and $25 for the two piece tip! Outstanding, I’m ecstatic. Gonna be armed to the teeth for spring ??? He said there was even an upgrade option where I could pay $40 to replace my Triumph with a Premier, worth it? The other one is a Premier and two piece is Triumph. All 3 are 6 foot medium light, is that pointless to have 3 of the same rods or is that a versatile size/strength that can be used for a variety of different fishing? I mostly creek fish for smallmouth which I’ve found them to be perfect for although if I’m going to have 3 it would be cool to know I can have one or two of them rigged for different waters/fish. What reels would you recommend? I have a Shimano Nasci that is absolutely the smoothest thing I’ve ever used. Thanks! I feel like Christmas came early!

Thanks for all the help everyone, I didn’t mean to come across like I was trying to “cheat” them, like you said they are a fantastic company with renown customer service. I was just under the impression I would be paying a hefty sum even in the best case scenario, so was just seeing if it was even relevant how it broke. One snapped in the window, which We should hang out sometime 100% my fault but the others got snagged on low hanging branches when mounted on my kayak and snapped. Gonna try to call customer service today!

What is the standard warranty from date of manufacture? Doesn’t say on there.

Are they strict about this or will they not look too closely? I have 3 broken rods, one of them snapped when I rolled my window up on it ? will they surely be able to determine this, and if so how much more will it cost me? Wondering if it will be worth it.

- How exactly do fish manage to appear in literally every body of water?
Fascinating, curious to see the studies using other species- How exactly do fish manage to appear in literally every body of water?
I have heard the bird theory, but how does that work? They catch a fish and accidentally drop it in another nearby body of water? I don’t see that happening often. The roe attach to their feet? Still leaves the question of how they get fertilized, unless they already are. Are other animals like turtles, waterfowl and beavers the couriers of these fertilized eggs? Even then that seems unlikely to populate literally every freshwater stream, pond and ditch on earth. How does it happen?- Do creek/river smallmouth require extended periods of water temps above 50 before they will feed aggressively or do they start as soon as the water temps reach a certain level?
How do you find their wintering holes?- I thought river smallmouth hit live bait year round?
Why is that?- Wow something crazy just happened - I found a small school of bass in a very shallow creek, one was pretty big!
When I say creek I don’t mean a small river, I mean a shallow tributary of a river that averages 3-6” deep. A creek that you can walk through and step on rocks without actually getting your feet wet throughout much of it. A creek you can go “creeking” in with little kids. I was scouting out spots to drop a minnow trap in a stretch that was a little deeper, maybe 1-2 ft, when I noticed a very large fish swim by. Had to have been at least 13”. It was yellow so I assumed it was a sucker as I figured smallmouth were much more elusive and spent most of their time hiding and would not be seen out swimming around in the open. Then it turned and I saw the stripes and a black tipped tail, I was in shock. Mostly because I can’t overstate how unlikely this body of water is for a smallmouth this large. I sat and watched it swim for about 20 minutes and before long noticed 3-4 others, juveniles, in tow. After a little while of enjoying this rare sighting I quietly retreated to go get some worms. I stopped to grab some food too as I figured they lived or at least hung in that general area for the time being. I got back and I didn’t see them, I cast a few dozen times in every direction covering everywhere I could reach, mostly just halfway across the stream and to my left and right. It is shallow and clear enough that if they were right there still one of them would’ve bit. How far do you suppose they traveled, do you think they might be back tomorrow or are still in the general vicinity? The creek is a tributary of a relatively large river, the Great Miami that feeds into the Ohio. I was about a mile from the mouth of the creek. The Great Miami holds some very large smallmouth and an abundance of different species including pike, Muskie and gar. Do you think the smallmouth went up the creek when the water was high after a rain and got trapped? Or do you think they have lived there for a while, and if so why? Sorry for the long ass post I just thought that was pretty cool, gonna go back tomorrow armed with some tackle and try to catch them. Here is a pic, this is the clearest one I was able to get. You can’t see the momma as she was hiding under a rock: https://ibb.co/PYN6Lwt- I thought river smallmouth hit live bait year round?
Yeah completely different water than what I’m in, I’m fishing a creek like MGF, averaging 3-5 ft. There are deeper holes but not much more than 10-15 ft max. - How exactly do fish manage to appear in literally every body of water?
