  1. Are they capable of actually keeping you warm in the winter though? How would you compare those to the fish monkey gloves?
  2. I don’t care if full finger or fingerless I just want the warmest glove that still offers dexterity and ability to tie knots/use a baitcaster.
  3. I know the search for a truly good pair of cold weather fishing gloves is still ongoing, with Aftco Breakwaters currently being the “least crappy option.” Unfortunately, these have a major deal breaking flaw - the fabric is a magnet for trebles, which is sort of a brainless design when you consider jerkbaits are one of the preeminent cold weather baits. Then add in katsuage outbarbs and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Which leads me to ask - why do so many fishing gloves have fabric on the outside? Fish Monkey comes up quite a bit and these Blockers appear to be the most low profile option offering slots for knot tying on the thumb and forefinger. With most Jerkbait setups being casting, wondering if having your thumb poking through a slot the entire time would be cumbersome and if straight up fingerless neoprene would be superior? What is your experience?
  4. I had heard so much about these but unfortunately they stay open. They are otherwise great, maybe a tad heavy but I can tell the quality is there. I’d previously been using Amazon generics, which lock and have a split ring tip, cutter etc. I have a pair of Boomerangs for line cutting and Texas split ring pliers so really these are simply for hook removal.
  5. And you don’t find it difficult getting a 7” resin (or bigger) bait with size 2 trebles through your knot loop?? How much could sliding your bait onto the clip really weaken it? Been doing it for years never had one fail. Not this
  6. I have been using speed clips on my Swimbait setup that I also throw A Rigs on. At first they worked well, but there are two points of entry to slide your line tie over. The top (horizontal) one is far easier to slide onto for some reason than the diagonal one on bottom, and so I started using that. However, my knot broke sending my Chad Shad into orbit. When I retied I discovered when the knot slides down it rubs the entry point of the clip. Even 20 lb fluoro will not withstand this for long. Luckily I was working a weedline and it landed on the bank. It broke the tail but fixable. Next time I’m afraid I won’t be so lucky and it’ll end up on the bottom of the river. My question is, do they make any heavy duty snaps that don’t have this issue and are equally easy to use without impacting the action?
  7. So if winter bass in my fishery are suspended in 10 ft of water or hugging bottom, what are you throwing?
  8. River I fish averages 4-5’, although plenty of 7-10’ holes and this time of year with them mostly congregated in and around winter areas I’m fishing a lot of deeper stuff. I like the 110 but it doesn’t really get down, and the junior I feel doesn’t have as erratic of an action. Is the 110+1 overkill or probably a good fit for these conditions?
  9. This is an effective presentation but not one you want to spend time putting together on the water, at least not a kayak. I use 10 lb fluoro which I can already see is getting tangled and kinked in the baggie I have it in. Gotta be some way of storing them to protect the delicate fluro and prevent tangles/kinks.
  10. Yeah that was my Swimbait rod for years until I started using this locally made 7’6” Heavy. What is the longest you’d go for a kayak Swimbait rod?
  11. I have certainly used the rod in a twitching motion similar to a jerkbait, but only when my kayak spun in an awkward position where I’m sort of forced to. Otherwise I prefer the more controlled cadence I get with my reel.
  12. I’m not sure why this idea just now occurred to me. Currently using 1/16 up top and 1/8 on bottom. Would switching to weightless worm hooks make a substantial difference or do you need that weight to get the baits to run right? If so is a worm hook ideal or is there something better?
  13. I tried the Twistlock Light in 4/0 and it seems to fit ok, is that what you’d have used?
