  1. Ok, now we make progress. The wood I'm useing on these first 3 are Bass wood and Soft Maple. The sealer was a Minwax water based acrylic. I didn't use a primer as I thougt the sealer would be enough. So regarding the veil, It is tightly wraped around the lure body? The fabric is so skimpy and the paint just smears. What kind of device do you use to hold the lure? If the pattern is dark lines then how can a light green or gold skin color possably cover the dark under coating with a single light spray that is so light it doesn't pool? I will check back this evening, thanks for the help, dmold
  2. Greetings, I have attempted my first 3 plugs, painting them with an airbrush and Createx Acrylic paints. Second coats seem to wash off easy, which is one problem. 'The paint seems almost soft and not completly hard, possably due to the wrong sealer. How do you paint the scale pattern. I bought wedding veil and the paint always seems to run.pool and smear. I have more questions, please lets start with these. Hopefully the great Whittler will also share his insights on this as well. Thanks much,

  4. Finishing turned wood plugs: This is a new hobby for me, but have enjoyed turning lure shapes over the last few weeks. I am at the point of needing to choose finish products. I am going to air brush, in order to achive the ideal gloss finish regardless of what the fish think. I am very much interested in finding out what others have done and what materials you have used. I have ron krusse's web pages taped over the lathe and am amazed at the beauty of his lures and the perfect finish he achives. he says he soakes the plug for what is days and I at a loss to understand what sealer he uses that would allow for what I think is a lacqure finish. Any and all feed back would be great. Thanks
