Good evening everyone!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself; I'm Chris, from Middle Tennessee. I've never really been interested in fishing, but with a recent job promotion, my wife thought it was best that I pick up a hobby that might provide some sort of stress relief. In the beginning, it was merely an outlet to get my sons away from their electronic devices, and to have some bonding time, but after the first couple of times, I really got hooked -- forgive the pun.
At first I went to Wally-World, and picked up a couple of cheap spinning combos and some tackle. The first time out, I realized that there was much to learn, so I headed onto the internet and came across this website, which has been a lifesaver, although up until today, I only lucky to catch a bunch of pan fish, and one fairly large catfish. But the joy I got out of simply being outdoors, watching the wildlife come out, and just letting go of "the real world" drove me to actually take this a little more seriously.
Now I'm fishing with a 7' M Abu Garcia Vertias 2.0 with a Pflueger President 6930. And today I caught my very first bass, pictured below, caught with a Livingston crankbait, with some sort of EBS sound technology that my wife got me for Christmas. While the thrill is intoxicating, I just wish my son(s) would have joined me today. After I got home, they were bummed out that they decided to stay home, where it was warm (outside temp today was hovering in the low 40s when I got to the lake).
I'm a bank angler, as I am just beginning to get into this and thus no logical argument can be made to purchase some sort of watercraft, any locals are welcomed to join me.
