Shimano Curado dc vs slx dc
Thanks, I ordered the SLX model and will post a review when I can. I have primarily all Chronarchs for my other reels so that will be what I compare it to.

Fisher FX21??
Looking at a 2001 Fisher FX21. The research I’ve seen so far is contradictory. Some have said great boats and a few have said they are built cheaply. Anyone know much about Fisher fiberglass boats? I’m leery as it has a Johnson 225 (no longer in production??) but, the boat is only $8,000...versus $12-$15k for most 20 footers I’m this year range. I haven’t seen the boat in person yet as it is 5 hours away but pics look good so far. Just trying to figure if I’d be getting a decent deal or buying a boatload of headaches. Thanks for any input.

Shimano Curado dc vs slx dc
Is the Curado DC worth the price difference?

Shimano reel for deep cranking
I have a Calcutta 150 and it has been perfect for larger crankbaits and spinnerbaits. 5:8 to 1 gear ratio. Can get some really good bargains in the used market.

Huddleston lawsuit against Bass Pro Shops
Any idea what happened on the deal with Bass Pro? From what I have read and I don’t know if true or not, is that most companies allowed BPS to copy designs in order to advertise their lures in the ever popular catelog. Of course with the ability for companies to market online now it isn’t necessary like it used to be.

Flouro vs Mono for pitching jigs
Good point. I read about this and that and it’s hard to judge. I feel like I’ve had good success with big game but didn’t know if I could improve with a different line.

Flouro vs Mono for pitching jigs
Contemplating changing from my long time favorite staple for pitching jigs, Big Game mono to Flourocarbon line. Wondering if it is worth the cost?? Did it really make a difference?

Huddleston lawsuit against Bass Pro Shops
I guess Bass Pro does as well...I’ve been in business long enough to know it’s not what’s right/wrong or even lawful/unlawful, it’s who has deep enough pockets to keep up the legal fight; particularly with patent and copyright issues.

Huddleston lawsuit against Bass Pro Shops
Please move it not in the right place but wondering if there has been any updates on the Huddleston Lures lawsuit against BPS for patent infringement or copyright violations? Also just wondering how does BOS get away with copying so many lure designs?? I guess because they are so big and control the market and designers are forced to acquiesce? Kind of in the same way the NBA (and many other companies) kowtows to China in the name of profit?

New personal best today!
Had a 2.0 owner rigging hook with an 1/8 oz tungsten sinker pegged about 2 foot up on braid w 10 on flouro leader. Tough little worm... caught 2 catfish and several other bass on it.

New personal best today!
It could be that heavy. It’s the biggest bass I have ever seen live. I was trying to be conservative in my estimate. It wasn’t skinny either...it had good girth. I keep saying I need to get some scales.

Question about oil injection removal
Thanks I guess if you do it often enough it probably gets to be a no brained.

New personal best today!
Didn’t have scales but estimating 8 lbs. 24.75 inches and nice girth. Caught it on a 4 inch pumpkin with chartreuse curly tail Zoom Dead Ringer at approximately 1 pm today in about 2 foot of water just off a tiny point that dropped into about 8 foot. This lake not really known for big fish and def unexpected give the time and heat. The 4 inch zoom worm is one of my faves....I’ve caught numerous 4-5 pound bass on this little gem. On top of the bass I caught 2 channel cats that were 25 and 26 inches, 2 other bass 3-4 pounds and numerous bass 12-14 inches. All around great day and unexpected success given the weather!

Question about oil injection removal
I don’t really have one. I just have read about it. I think it mostly refers to 1990s model Mercurys. I have seen this in several places online.
-
Question about oil injection removal
So I’ve read about, on older Mercury engines, the oil injection being disabled and adding oil with the gas to avoid catastrophe in the event the oil injection were to fail. Unless you are putting in a full tank of gas, do you just always have to “do some math” to ensure the right amount of oil for the amount of gas your putting in? Although better than engine failure, this seem like a clunky way to do things...

NADA Guides ???
I’ve been checking the NADA online guide for various boats and it’s hard to make sense out of them. For example, I looked at a 1996 Bass Cat Eyra with a Merc 175. The suggested list price was $12,824 and the average retail price was between $5,000 and $5,730. Just not sure what to think. I’ve seen this with a lot of boats.

Best bet for ultra light braid?
6 lb I think. Maybe 4 lb. I think part of the problem may be that I just haven’t used it. It’s been in there for a few months with no use at all. Could that result in twisting? All I’ve done is pull out line to tie on a lure and it was already twisting terribly.
-
Best bet for ultra light braid?
I know how to spoil a spinning reel. Actually this one was done at bass pro out of convenience. It does have too much line on the spool but I didn’t expect it to twist this bad this quickly. I think from here out it’s gonna be 100% braid on spinning reels for me. Not worth the headaches.

Best bet for ultra light braid?
I got me an ultra light outfit and put mono on it. I haven’t even made one case and it’s already twisting bad. I’m wanting try braid and wondering what my best bet would be for an ultra light braid. I had 10lb Fireline on another spinning outfit and had great luck with that over many years. Didn’t know if there was something better in ultra light or not. Thanks.

“ G Loomis NRX” for $125 but no sticker??
Thanks for the input!

“ G Loomis NRX” for $125 but no sticker??
Chatting with a guy about a G Loomis NR, for $125. He said they bought a bunch of blanks in bulk, built the rods and is selling them for $125 because they didn’t get the sticker with the blanks. Seem suspicious..any thoughts on such a deal? Also the Shimano Solstace is included in the deal.

Choosing between deals...experience appreciated
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately the BassCat sold quickly (not surprisingly). It’s a bummer that most of the used boats selling for the amount I want to spend all have one thing in common Evinrude Ficht injection...surprise surprise surprise!
-
Choosing between deals...experience appreciated
Although it already has the new lower unit. You certainly raise a good point. He also mentioned later yday that he needed to do some work with the electronics which I think he meant removing the units that didn’t go with the boat but you never know. $7,500 certainly falls in the “too good to be true” category. tTue good thing is at this point I’m starting to get more into deer hunting mode so my patience for buying a boat is increasing.

Choosing between deals...experience appreciated
Thanks. Are there any other model year Rangers I should be leery of? Or is all the Evinrude with Ficht?
-
Choosing between deals...experience appreciated
So a BassCat is a better built than a Ranger? I’ve always been under the impression that Rangers were the most well built boats.
