  1. Searched on this and saw a few things but not everything in one place. I bought a Coleman Crawdad to fish some small electric only and private ponds. Anyone have any good tips or mods that made it better? Would a foot control trolling motor for okay? What would be the best batter if I only go 12 volt? Anybody so 2 12 volts for a bigger trolling motor? Any good comfort mods? Any good ideas or experience appreciated!
  2. You are right. Didn’t know if I should avoid Evinrude engines but I suppose not...which is good to see. I don’t know where I read they quit making Evinrude engines.
  3. Thanks, my good fortune that my brother just found one cleaning out his garage!
  4. I bought a Jon boat to fish some the local electric motor only lakes, wanting to know, amid the myriad of options out there what’s a good lcr to get. I don’t want to go overboard money wise and hoping to find something used. I guess I’d be best to have one where the transducer attaches to the trolling motor (will be in the front)?
  5. Why are lower units on performance outboards shorter than normal lower units?
  6. Look forward to seeing that.
  7. Yea I’ve wondered why they aren’t used by manufacturers for freshwater boats. I’ve seen them on saltwater boats.
  8. Has anyone ever had their boat wrapped to get a different color scheme? Wondering what the cost is and how it worked out.
  9. Interesting, I thought it was Johnson’s that we’re still made but you are right. I have wondered why Honda isn’t more into outboards for freshwater fishing like Yamaha is.
  10. Looking at used Rangers and wondering if Evinrude engines should be avoided. I always thought Johnsons and Evinrudes were like Chevys and Buicks...is that wrong?
  11. Great idea! I mostly was thinking of the non mechanical stuff.
  12. Looking at some older boats and seeing various parts are faded, cracked, etc. not major things but various plastic covers, dash board parts, etc. Is it normally easy and not too expensive to find parts like that for the more popular models like Rangers, Skeeters, Stratos, etc?
  13. Couldn’t agree more with this. Unfortunately I have seldom seen a fishing tournament on tv where I learned much. Same problem with deer hunting shows. They are more about promoting the “actor” and their products. Fortunately You Tube has a lot of content now.
  14. I’m the same way about the blue ones!
  15. Just now! Somehow I missed I guess. Thanks. I think that confirms what I had hoped.
  16. I was talking about adding a console not removing one. The gist of it being there are a lot more used single console boats available than dual console. With that I was wondering about buying a single console boat and adding a console for the passenger. I think some you could and some you couldn’t but not sure.
  17. That’s right...however I would look to buy a factory made console if possible.
  18. I’ve seen them on eBay for around 220-230 bidding I think. Is that a pretty good price? It looks like retail is over $300??
  19. Is there a big difference between the G Loomis E6X and the IMX rods? Also curious in what a good price for an IMX SJR 723 would be.
  20. Is it feasible, economically or physically (fit, etc) to add a passenger console to a single console boat? I’m looking at used boats with a preference for a DC but it seems like 90% of boats are SC.
  21. A lot of it depends on the driver’s experience and the boat being used. An 18 foot Astro F18 is a fast boat in smooth water but no comparison to a Ranger in rough water.
  22. The most important thing I have seen is to be sure the rod action is matched up to the weight of the lure. I throw a lot of 3/16 and 1/4 oz spinnerbaits where I fish and have the perfect rod for that. When I went to a lake that called for half ounce spinnerbaits and large willow blades, the bait overwhelmed my setup. I could still fish with it but it was particularly comfortable to do and def affected my accuracy.
  23. Thanks. Love those old reels but it’s hard to find one not beat up. If they are in good shape, the price is crazy from what I’ve seen.
  24. I see a lot of the old ambassaduers all scratched up with rash on top, etc. Anyway to clean up that kind of damage?
  25. Thanks! And will do. Prob more of a roll caster. The one big difference I notice with my pitching rod is the handle is long than I’d like for skipping.
