  1. Are circle & wide gap hooks basically the same type of hook? I have an assortment of each & they look very similar.
  2. I use bluegills as bait for LMB fishing. I was told that the preferable hook to use is a circle hook. If so, what size hook should I use?
  3. I fish for lmb using a 2-3" live bluegill & a conventional 2" round plastic spring loaded red/white bobber. Twice while reeling in a fish the bobber fell off the line. I normally wind the line twice around the top & bottom spring area of the bobber. Should i use a better quality bobber? Maybe a different bobber & technique should be used?
  4. When the cheap walmart shoes get water inside them the insides get mildew & fall apart. Mildew is basically "rot". It starts smelling & eventually will cause infection on one's feet. I don't want to economize on foot health to save a few dollars. I'd rather spend extra money & buy appropriate shoes than make an appointment with a foot doctor.
  5. I bank fish & wear cheap walmart tennis shoes. Many times i inadvertently step in the water & ruin my shoes. I wear the shoes mainly to protect my feet from ants & other insects. Any recommendations for waterproof shoes that do not have any holes or other openings? I do not want boots.
  6. I haven't tried any type of drop shot rig yet.
  7. I'm new at drop shot fishing. I've watched various youtube videos explaining drop shot rigging. Not everybody uses the same techniques. My question is, am i required to use a specific "drop shot hook & weight"? Couldn't i use any #1 hook & any type of weight as long as it's between 1/4-3/8 oz. weight?
  8. I bank fish for large mouth bass using a spinning rod/reel combination. I'm presently using #10 mono line. What would be the advantages/disadvantages if i were to change over to #10 braid line?
  9. Ok.......Thanks to everyone for their input. Proper knot, no glue it is!
  10. I've read that some people apply glue onto their knot on the hook, lure etc. Does this actually strengthen the knot? Does it matter if it's mono or braid line? What type/brand glue is used? How long do you let it dry for?
  11. I have a lot of 8-10 lb mono line. Is this sufficient for catching lmb in a canal? I'm using a spinning reel.
  12. A man by the name of "Alan Hawke" has a site, http://www.alanhawk.com/reviews/lists.html where he evaluates various spinning reels. He claims he has disassembled all the reels mentioned above. His main interest/concern is quality & reliability when purchasing a spinning reel. Are there members of this forum that agree or disagree with his findings? Are there other individuals who have taken spinning reels apart & evaluated them?
  13. Has anybody ever tried using a treble hook with a plastic worm? Various connection methods? Your results?
  14. Very nice catch! I'd love to go night fishing in the canals but here in florida the alligators also like to hunt at night!
  15. Now I have to learn how to tie mono to braid! Is it possible to super glue mono to braid?
  16. In reality i'm not required to put any backing on my reel when using braid line? As long as I have a piece of proper tape on the spool to tie the braid on so the line doesn't spin on the spool? Approximately a year later I can "reverse" wind this 200 yard line onto another reel/spool & basically have usable line again?
  17. Can one use cotton string/twine as backing for braided line on a spinning reel spool?
  18. When it's my time to depart i'm having all my fishing equipment buried with me. Let's have a contest in this forum: He who dies with the most toys wins.
  19. I read an article where an angler used maximum drag setting all the time when bass fishing. Is this an unusual technique or common among some anglers?
  20. There are situations where I would like to super glue a plastic worm onto a hook or onto a weight. Would any type of cheap super glue work or is their a better quality available? The minimum drying time the better.
  21. Ok....Thanks to everybody for your recommendation.
  22. Can one use an extra wide gap hook with the shaky jig head? If so what size hook would you recommend?
  23. I'm new to shaky jig head fishing. I bank fish & use a spinning reel/6-7' rods with 12 lb mono. I'm interested in a shaky jig head hook with the spring attachment. The worms i'll be using are the standard 6" "zoom" variety. What size hook & weight should I consider?
  24. Ok.....Thanks to everybody for your suggestions.
  25. Hello to my fellow members. I'm a semi-newbie, (5 years) to large mouth bass fishing. I live in a condo in florida & in the rear of the property are fresh water canals which i fish from. Large mouth bass fishing is my main interest. At present I use plastic worms or live blue gills as bait. There is so much to learn & i feel i chose the right forum to further my interest.
