  1. Tried to delete this thread but I can't....UPDATE: I just heard from the seller and he DOES have a title for the trailer....I was freaking out!!! Ok guys....so here's my situation... I'm buying a boat and trailer from a guy in VA....I was talking to someone here in NC and he said its a nightmare bringing a trailer to NC b/c VA does not title trailers. The gentlemen I'm buying it from said he had both titles for boat and trailer....I left him a message this morning asking him to confirm he did indeed have both titles. I'll be the 3rd owner as the guy in VA bought it from the original owner in SC.... If he doesn't have a title for the trailer what do I do to register the trailer here in NC?? I probably won't here from the seller till this evening as he doesn't check his phone till he gets off work. TIA
  2. Boat was sold a week or so ago....so no longer an issue. Nothing out there really right now....will start my search again in the fall/winter.
  3. When you get to your location just bring up google maps on your phone or use hotel computer... Search around and look for bodies of water. If the body of water has a name on it like "Lake X" then its probably public. Heck if I were you maybe try to see if you can get on a golf course pond...theres only like 6 million golf courses there. As far as the color goes thats all going to depend on what the water looks like and the weather conditions. IMO you can't go wrong with some green pumpkin or junebug...I would just pick up a bag of each. Its going to be hot as hell so get out first thing in the morning or in the evening... Have fun and get you a big ole' toad.
  4. MODS...Please delete...fixed the problem...thanks Hey folks.... I have a hds 8 gen 2 and the structure setting reads no signal. I checked the structure box and the power is on there....all of the connections are tight.... After checking that I did what I thought was a soft reset (held pages button and powered up the unit)....I may have done more damage. Now I dont even see structure on the menu... PLEASE HELP. As you have have seen I bought a boat that I NEED TO SELL....I have a buyer coming this afternoon and I'm trying to get this issue resolved asap.... please help. I don't know much about these units. I've never installed them or done any type of work on them. I'm very new to all of this so if you can please explain the solution in layman's terms that would be great.
  5. Man I would love to see a video of how you do this. The more I look at this boat in my garage the more I want to keep it. I can't justify keeping it if I can never get it in and out of my garage.
  6. I do have it on craigslist and a few facebook groups... A lot of tire kickers out there...
  7. You're right....I would get a letter from HOA even if the boat stayed out overnight in my driveway.....UGH HOA!!
  8. Some great ideas... The bottom line for me is that this boat is not practical for ME right now.... I have it posted on Craigslist and several facebook groups... Anyone here wants it they can come take her away for 23k.
  9. After talking to my wife and the logistics of it all Im just going to sell it. I should be able to get what I paid. I felt I couldnt pass up the deal but now Im having major buyers remorse and I just need it gone. This was supposed to be fun but its turned into a huge problem now. Thanks for the advice and tips...best advice I had recently was when my wife said "this boat is too big and more than you need"....like most stubborn guys I ignored that advice. :-(
  10. I did a google search and I dont really see teflon cutting boards..I saw something on amazon but they were like $30 each...are you talking about the thin sheets? I think you can use them for cookie sheets as well?
  11. Thanks JB and Francho... @JB I did see the trailer dolly at harbor freight.....I was wondering if that would work...the reviews I read it looked like it was for a light trailer ...this boat is far from light... I can try the card board box idea Francho had and the cutting boards. I go this rig for a great price and hate to get rid of it. I can if I have to and not lose any money. NADA is just under 28k and this one has hds 8 2nd gen in console, hds 5 at bow and in the pic you can see one pp....I got it for 23k....the point in me telling you this is that if I HAD to get rid of it I dont think I would lose money. It drives like a champ...I drove it last sunday on the lake and even fished out of it. The seller was super nice guy...He has a new triton coming in so he had to get rid of this one. I got lucky and basically got it for his payoff.
  12. I will try and make this short...... So I've been looking for a new "used" boat for a couple of months now and finally yesterday I brought one home. Its a 2010 Triton TR19 Pro. Now that all being said I should be super happy....well now I have a major problem. My old boat which was a single axle trailer. I could back it up to the garage, get it half way in and then do the rest by hand and get it into place. Now I have a tandem axle trailer...and of course a much bigger boat. The boat barley fits in my garage and I was able to get it in yesterday when I got home but it took two grown men to get it done. So the big issue is how to swing a boat around with a tandem trailer? At this point I feel like I made a huge mistake by buying this boat. I dont think I can move the boat around on my own like I could with my last one.....I'll need to be able to hook up at 4am and head to club tournaments...not sure what to do. Here are some pics... One in the sellers garage and the rest are how it's stored in my garage. Please give me some ideas how I can move this boat on my own.
  13. Looks good...do you have before pics?
  14. Update: Went and saw the rig yesterday. It was in pretty good shape. He stores it under a carport and it hasnt moved in 2 years. Needless to say one side of it was sun damaged...the other side looked amazing. A few primes on the gas line and she almost turned over. The guy wanted $6500 for it but he was willing to work with me. Not bad considering nada is about 11k but I don't want to have a project on my hands and I dont think it would even fit in my garage.... Thanks for all the insight...once again you guys have been helpful.
  15. Jordan is going to be a hot mess tomorrow....I'd get out as early as you can. By 10am that place will probably be a zoo. There's several bridges with riprap you may be able to bang a crankbait around that.....I normally fish the marina but tomorrow may be bad for that.... Sorry if I'm being negative it just seems like everyone with a boat takes it out just one day and that's tomorrow....
  16. I was able to speak with the seller tonight and got a little more details. He said it will need a fuel pump and my guess is a little TLC. I asked about any motor problems since it is a ficht. He said when he first had it there was an issue where the motor would cut off coming out of the hole. He brought it back to the dealer and they fixed the issue....now 17 years later he said hes never had another issue with it. I still want to get the motor looked at by a mechanic. NADA is 11-12k...... lets just say he wants a lot less than that.. close to half of that...of course that kind of scared me...last thing I want to do is buy someone elses problem. As I mentioned above for a peace of mind I would get the boat looked at by a mechanic. The boat also needs a little elbow grease to get it looking good again. He was going to clean it up before I go and see it on Sunday but he did send me some pics tonight before he could clean it. I think even if I put a couple of thousand into the boat (which I dont think it really needs) I would still be coming out with a nice rig. Now one issue I know Im going to have is the length.....my only option is getting a fulton swing tongue kit. It will need to fit in my garage where my max length is 24-25...this is going to be close to 26 if not over.
  17. Thanks guys....so this is a friend of a friend who told me yesterday he knows a guy selling a 2000 22ss extreme. I tried to find some info...I know it has an evinrude but not sure if its a fitch. Not sure what forum was posted above since the words were removed.... I'm not sure if this boat is even something that will happen or not...I'm supposed to talk to the owner tonight. I never intended on getting a rig this big and not even sure it will fit into my garage.
  18. Good Morning..... I tried searching the forum for information about stratos ss extreme and can't find much. In particular I'm looking for owners of a 2000 22 ss extreme. I was contacted by a buddy who knows a guy selling one. I can't even find much info when I google it. I'm looking for specs and reviews. Would love to hear what you guys have to say...btw it has an evinrude 225 TIA
  19. Most have answered your questions... Coincidentally before I even knew this forum existed I watched this video a couple of years ago when I bought my first boat. The biggest thing here is....1. hand on the bottom of the wheel.....2. Put the truck in neutral Both of those tips saved me a lot of headache. Only other advise I can give you since this is your first boat....GET IN CHEAP...my first boat cost me 2600 and I sold it for 2700... but the real point here is you man not enjoy having a boat....I wanted to "test" myself before I made a big commitment. Good luck.
  20. BobP~ First off....Are you interested in selling your TR19? I was wondering about the Nitro 750 or Z6 being small....I don't want to buy something now then regret it next season. I totally agree about getting the motor checked out...that's where all the big money is! So this is what I've been finding......a boat that is close or right on NADA and I would need to then put money into it to get it where I want it...that would be updated electronics, bigger/new trolling motor, buying and installing an onboard charger etc.... OR I find a boat that has been recently updated (like the one that started this thread) but the price is a little high...so as an example with the 1999 TR19 that started this thread..... The guy is saying 11.5k.... OK...so now I need to break that down in my head.... - Boat NADA $8.1k-9.2k (Boat has been garage kept, cleaned after every run etc...this is what the owner says and the pics look very clean)...that being said I would probably put this one near the 9k range..(this is also pending getting a compression test) - Owner put on two Garmin 93 at console and bow...apx 2k - Owner installed new minn kota fortrex 80# apx 1.2k Ok...so thats about 3.2k in "add-ons"... theoretically a value of apx $12,200 So if I were to buy his boat for 9k w/o electronics etc I would still need to do some work/$$$ to it to get it where I want it... OR...do I look at it this way and say to myself....I don't have to touch this boat and give the guy $11k or $11.5k and be done with it? By "be done with it" I mean I don't have to buy electronics, get new carpet or seats yada yada yada. At the end of the day I would still have a 1999 boat...Im not saying that's a bad thing but if I were to get a 2009 19ft triton I would guess that I could expect to pay close to double that price. My budget would allow me to get an older Triton or maybe Ranger or a new Nitro... Pretty much all the guys in the club have tritons and I don't really hear any complaints. I have heard some saying a gas smell in the rod locker but that may be isolated...thats a quick thing to find out when looking at a boat too...you can't really escape the smell of gas... Now to wrap this all up....I haven't talked to this guy in a few weeks. He may not budge off his price or maybe he already sold it and never took down the ad. I was going to see if something pops up in the next couple of weeks and then maybe reach out to him. Sorry for the long rant....
  21. He sold it today...it was posted last night and gone today. I knew it wouldnt last. While most people ask 3k over NADA he a little $1000 UNDER NADA.... I just couldn't get down to see him fast enough. He's about 2 hours from me....
  22. I found a 2008 z6 for sale and I contacted the seller to ask some questions...He said the gas gauge was not working. I did some poking around on google and found this to be an issue. Has anyone else come across this and how much is it to fix it? Here is the boat I'm considering https://fayetteville.craigslist.org/boa/6132782879.html TIA
  23. For me it depends on what type of reel Im getting. IMO it wouldn't hurt anything. Some times reels can have some crap in them from the factory. Those are pretty basic....you can search for other videos on how to take the whole reel apart.... As for when to clean them...that depends...if I fish some ponds that are kind of "swampy" and have a bunch of green algae I dont want that stuff in my reels so I'll clean them more often. I will also clean/inspect all of them before a tournament. Hope this helps
