  1. Bought a new Jig rod a reel this spring and caught that beauty on a 3/8oz jig along with a pile of other nice pre spawn fish. This year is my first time ever fishing jigs. It's a new technique i'll use all the time now.
  2. Sportsman's outfitters! Free shipping and great prices! And thanks again for the recommendation, I have my eye on a few more to complete my arsenal.
  3. Thanks! Didnt get a weight but she measured 21" and she was fat!
  4. I have recently purchased the 7'1" MH XF (Paired with a HS Tatula reel) and I love it, I mainly throw jigs 1/4 up to a 1/2 with it, but I have experimented with other lures on it and while I find that it can handle spinnerbaits and some cranks baits. I think that it is not the best option for them. My next purchase will probably be the Tatula MHR glass rod for cranks.
  5. Found a new lake last week with some hogs in it... also found my new favorite lure
  6. Thanks for the heads up - I ordered the Rod and reel on Friday and it was delivered today! Feels like a great combo! I can't wait to test it out! Thanks again for all of the recommendations.

  8. So I think the plan is to pair a Tatula 100HS or CT HS with a 7'1" MH XF Tatula Rod - Total Price about $200 from sportman's outfitters
  9. Thanks for all the replies, found some good deals on the Tatula 100hs and the CT. I'll have to check them out at a store for size and see which one I like best.
  10. I like the idea, I do have a couple other combos im trying to get. I'll check that out! What Tatula reel model do you recommend?
  11. As the title states I'm looking at getting a new casting setups for mostly fishing jigs and other rigs (texas etc.) ranging from 1/4 up to 3/4oz - maybe a little more. I have been looking at the St Croix Avid X series in 7ft MH Fast or something similar in that price range. As for the reel I am having a hard time deciding between the Abu Revo Premier, STX, Lews Tournament Pro G, Tourament MB, BB1, a Shimano curado I, or a daiwa tatula. Trying to stay somewhere around 350 for the entire combo I'm just having a tough time choosing with so many options. Thanks for any input!
