  1. Hi all, I'm looking to replace the treble hooks on my Rapala DT 10's and a couple of Megabass S square bills that hooks need to be swaped. I was thinking of going with Owner ST-35 short shank or the ST-46 2X, and was wondering what type of Owner treble hooks you would recommend? I'm affriad the 2X might be too heave for the action of the lures but am not sure. They both come with size 4 hooks so my question is what model Owner hook what size, and how big of split rings would you use? Also what is a good size for a line tie split ring? Thanks in advance!
  2. Alright sounds good! If you don't want to sell it I totally understand, and don't want you to get rid of something that means a lot to you. I own one right now it is my dad's, and originally came on a old Ugly Stik but I think the bearings need to be cleaned or replaced. Do you know if they will clean up alright or do you know if I can buy replacement bearings anywhere? Thanks!
  3. Hi there guy and gals, I was wondering if any members have or are looking to sell a Shimano Quickfire Custom X-2000GT spinning reel? I have been looking for one for quite sometime now and figured I'd ask you all. Also is there any place I can buy replacement bearings for one this model? I currently own one but the bearings need to be cleaned or replaced. Thanks in advance!
  4. Wow! Those are some awesome looking frogs! Might have to look into them as well. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Spro it is! I will make sure to stay away from the Live Targets. I asked because Tackle Wearhouse is running a deal where if you buy 1 live target popping frog you get a free hollow bluegill. I guess I almost got sucked into the trap Lol! Thanks for the help.
  6. Thanks a lot! I will have to pick up a couple Spro frogs. I really liked my Booyah frogs too but couldn't figure out why the nose kept ripping out on casts, I tried the super glue trick with no luck so I decided it was time to try something new this year. Out of curiosity why don't you like Live target? I have never owned one.
  7. Now I know there are TONS of these questions out there and I think I have about read them all, but all the topics are old and before I decide on what frogs I want to get for the upcoming season I want your guys input. So I narrowed it down to 2 brands I liked the most which is Spro and Live Target. Which of these 2 do you guys like the best both normal and popping style? I would use Booya but lost 3 last year from the rings tearing out from the nose... weird right?
  8. I tied on a shroomz jig and a trd and I have plenty of tip on the medium action to launch the bait out. Thanks for all the input! I greatly appreciate it!
  9. Perfect I have 8lb mono spooled up on the reel on my medium. I will use that rod. Thanks for the input! I will make sure to set my drag low too.
  10. Hey guys, I was wondering if you had to choose between a ultra light or a medium action rod for a Ned rig which if these would you choose? I know medium light is ideal but those are my two lightest rods in my arsenal.
  11. Thanks a lot for the input I will look into these. He mostly likes to fish for pike catfish panfish and bass if that gives you some more info, he fishes all sorts of jigs and minnows.
  12. What is a good rod and reel setup for all around fishing for around $120. Also what test and type of line? I would also like to buy it in store like cabela's. P.S I'm looking for my brother his rod and reel is swimming with the fish if you know what I me... Life lesson learned never fish for pike and leave your rod unattended!
  13. Glad to hear that! Just got my CT in the mail today and I have to say I am impressed! Totally worth the money now all I need is line!
  14. Hey dude, if you're still looking into getting a CT take a look at this dudes ebay page I just bought a CT from him for $80, So he is pretty good on his prices where it don't hurt so bad. here is the link for his page, also he has fast shipping as well, mine will be here tomorrow and it has only been 3 days..... It went from Oklahoma to Texas and now it's in Minnesota so not bad considering it took a minor detour lol! Good luck & tight lines! http://stores.ebay.com/Alpha-2-Omega/Daiwa-/_i.html?_nkw=CT&submit=Search&_fsub=2523843012&_sid=862626522
  15. @fishnkamp I was thinking something like 40lb braid but I'm unsure sense I'm new to this. What do you think would be a good line for the reel?
  16. Thanks a lot @fishnkamp, I watched both videos and once I get the reel in I will go back and check them out again so I can adjust the reel. Thanks for your help I greatly appreciate it! If I ever have any troubles with the reel would it be okay if I massage you?
  17. Thanks everybody for your responses I greatly appreciate it! I decided to go with the regular CT I didn't see the need for the different color or drag lol "so tempting!" and I should have it here on or before the 24th. Thanks so much for all the help! Jack
  18. I'm looking into getting one of these as my first baitcaster and wanted to know what one is better? I found the Type-R for $118 and the CT for $79.95 is there any big difference between the two? I'm willing to spend the money on either one so I'm not worried about the prices.
  19. Thanks guys for the help I appreciate it! I decided not to pull the trigger on the combo and I'm going to build up my own setup. So far I bought myself the 7' MH lightning rod and am saving for the reel and the braid. Any thoughts of what is a good reel to get for around $100 and what is a ideal lb test of braid? Thanks
  20. Hi all, I am in the market for a baitcaster and being a teenager on a budget I took a look at the Quantum Pulse Baitcasting combo and it felt pretty smooth in my hands and not as cheap as I imagined (but again I'm new to this). Has anyone purchased one of these or know if they are any good? I know it wont be as good as a Lews, Abu, or a Shimano but is it worth a shot to give it a try?? Thanks in advance!
  21. Thanks a lot Lxve bassing, I will make sure to take a look at them and I am thinking of following what you said and go with the braided line as well. Do you put a leader on your line? I have heard that it is unnecessary when fishing murky water like we have up here is that true?
  22. Thanks a lot guys. It felt really thick and I figured I should ask before I put it on and have all these problems. Any idea what this line was used on? I found 350 yards of it at a lake just sitting there so I took it. Any ideas of a good beginner baitcater and rod?
  23. J.C replied to Brett_22's topic in Fishing Tackle
They work on different kinds of fish usually the small ones like the live bait. I have had luck with the green night crawlers I usually go to the river and have a pretty good day catching drum fish and caught a couple northern too.
  24. Hey guys, I was looking into getting a baitcaster since I have never had one I thought what the heck why not give one a shot. There is just one thing holding me back what line to use? I have a pack of 25lb monofilament that has been sitting in my garage and was wondering if that would work? I have watched videos and read threads on what to use but it seems like everyone has a different preferences and wanted to know if the 25lb mono would work or if not what is best? Thanks!
  25. Yeah that would be great! I will have to pick up a couple of them if I get some of them!
