Lake Erie giants !
I used fishing lures , casted them out and reeled them back in. Oh and I casted them into the water haha ?.. all jokes aside. I usually throw jerkbaits and cranks during this time, I let them tell me how fast or slow. Today was a moderate pace

Lake Erie giants !
I’m glad you finally got out ! I know it was bad up there recently. And I have seen some of those 7 pounders you catch haha. Haven’t gotten there yet, hoping to get something 6+ this year. Thursday is supposed to be 61 and sunny with 5-10 mph winds, perfect day! I hope it comes over your way to

Lake Erie giants !
So the time is finally here ! The Lake Erie smallmouth giants are in. Only got to fish for few hours as s thunderstorm was rolling in but I csught around 20 in that time. Caught 4 bass in the 5 pound range and the rest were just fatties also. If you ever went to experience some true smallmouth action Lake Erie is amazin. Sometimes living up north sucks but times like this I appreciate that I live 5 minutes from a wonderful Great Lake. Get to go out again Thursday (will probably take off work hehe ) can’t wait ! Oh and @A-Jay where you at buddy! Little smallmouth competiton this year ? Friendly of course haha

Buzzbait tips
I love cavitron and buzzbiats ! Throw them all the time. I usually throw the 3/8 oz as it is the perfect size for speed and distance. Sometimes they want it fast and others slow. I would get a MH/F rod and I use braid when throwing it. Don’t set the hook as soon as you see a splash but just wait a quick second then set. It’s hard because you want to set the hook out of excitement but just wait and you should get better hookups. I like a Mh f bc it has more power to set the hook further down the blank than just the tip. Buzzbait being a single hook sometimes need more force to penetrate good.

AFTCO proteus rain gear review.
I got it on tackle warehouse. It’s a little pricey at 200$ a piece I believe but I promise it’s way worth it

AFTCO proteus rain gear review.
So when I asked on here about this suit nobody really knew about it. I went ahead and got it anyway and omg ! It’s amazing. I went out today knowing it was going to be some light to medium heavy rains to test it out. We had about 15 good minutes of solid hard downpour and it kept me completely dry. It didn’t soak in at all and jsut bounced right off. I like how’s the zipper comes up diagonally at the top so your mouth isn’t stuck in the zipper. It has some nice deep pockets for phone or keys or some soft plastics if needed. Everything either Velcro’s or is pull corded to kee wster out. It’s more of a lightweight jacket and you have to layer underneath to stay warmer but it’s made with plenty of room to layer. I would recommend these to anyone. Plenty of good ventilation to when wanting to use in summer rains.

Frog rods: long or short?
I would go with the longer rod. I would look at the IROD GENESIS 2, I was hesitant at first bc I always worry the rod won’t be what I want. But I promise that thing is a beast! I hauled a 7 pounder out with like10 pounds of slop no problem. It is also very light and won’t wear you out. I have fished it for 2-5 hours with jsut frogging

Need to pick up a top water rod
Dobyns fury is perfect for that. I have the 705CB ROD and it’s amazing.

Kistler helium 3, ALX ZOLO , Shimano Zodias ??
How is the handle ? Do you find you can palm easily ?
-
Kistler helium 3, ALX ZOLO , Shimano Zodias ??
Do you feel the Mh fast Zodias is good for jigs and Trigs from 1/4-3/4 oz ? I usually never go lower or higher than that. Mainly stay between 3/8 and 1/2 oz 75% of the time. Then obviously spinnerbaits would be the same
-
Why so much line?
One word ! BACKLASH! Having enough line let’s you backlash properly so you can angerly cut all the line until the backlash is out and retie with confidence hah ??

Kistler helium 3, ALX ZOLO , Shimano Zodias ??
The helium 3 only comes in extra fast sadly for the MH version

Kistler helium 3, ALX ZOLO , Shimano Zodias ??
So I’m ready to pull the trigger on a rod today, either the kistler helium 3, ALX ZOLO or Shimano Zodias. I have gone back and forth between many companies (sorry I dragged you all threw it haha) but I’m going to get one of these today. Not sure which and still having troubles. I can get the kistler helium 3 for 213$ with the sale going on. I will be getting a MH fast or Xfast for jigs and Trigs. Spinnerbait or chatterbiats. I like a thinner handle so I can palm easily. Not that it has to be super thin but I once had a rod with such a fat grip it was uncomfortable. Anyway which one of these would be best for sensitivity , lightweight and all around best if you had to choose one
