  2. Snake95, Thank you, for some great information. I will try your suggestions and see what happens. Please take care and have a wonderful and safe evening.
  3. Catt, What about lily pads. Will a Johnson weedless spoon go through lily pads?
  4. Peddiesake and Hawg, Thank you for your replies. There are no shad in the small ponds I fish. Should I decide to throw a spoon, I will up the size from my trout spoons and try different retrieves. You folks take care and have a great evening.
  5. Today, I took my wife shopping. While she was shopping for what she wanted I went shopping at a Sporting Goods store. I came across a lure made by Sebile called Magic Swimmer. Some of the boxes said slow sinking and some said fast sinking. What can you tell me about this lure? Should I purchase them or not.? If you think I should get these lures, should I get the fast or slow sinking version.
  6. Hawg, Thank you for responding. Please take care and have a wonderful and safe evening.
  7. BuzzHudson19c, Thank you for your reply. I understand what you are saying, but this is a Sportsmen Club pond where everybody fish for trout. Within a couple weeks of the last trout stocking, for the most part, no one will be their fishing but me. The trout fishermen, are complaining more and more each year, since the lily pads keep spreading out in their pond like wildfire.
  8. Primetime, Thank you, for your information.
  9. I only fish three locations for bass or trout. Two of them are Sportsmen Club ponds. The other is a pond own by one of my classmates. All three ponds are located within seven miles of my home. None of these ponds have shad in them. The two sportsmen club ponds are stocked with trout during the spring. After the last stocking, usually at the beginning of may within a month for the most part, I will be the only person fishing. Nobody fishes for the bass that are in these club ponds. Since both of my knees been replace, I fish only these three locations. For the most part, they are level and easy accessible.
  10. Thank you for your replies. Also, I have added information to my avatar. Sorry, I do not know how to add a picture. Another question regarding these lily pads. Could they effect the quality of the water in our pond? Could they be the cause of our pond being so stained?
  11. Usually, when I fish for trout I throw spoons. I prefer Thomas Bouyants and Daredevils. How well do spoons work for bass?
  12. One of the sportsmen club that I belong to, their pond has been over run with lily pads. What can they do to eliminate these pads without hurting the fish.
  13. Thank you everyone for your tips and advice. Please be sure, I appreciate it and I will try everything you kind folks suggest. From the early fifties until 1970 I just fished for trout. Then from 1970 to 2010 I didn't do any fishing. I'm now retired. I started fishing for trout again in 2011 but now I want to learn more about bass fishing.
  14. My fingers do not work good enough to tie a loop. However, they can attach a snap to mono. I'll probably do this this evening.
  15. Thanks for all your replies. All of you have provided me with some great information. You can be sure, I will try everything you suggested. I'm sure glad I joined this forum.
  16. Crestliner2008 and NHBull, Thank you for your replies. Should I go fishing today, I will vary my retrieves.
  17. NHBull, Thank you for your reply. How would you fish it? Would you use a steady retrieve or something different?
  18. What color should I use when fishing very stained water on both a bright and sunny day and one that is cloudy. Also, how should it be fished.
  19. Dorado and NHBull, Thank you for your information. I will try both ways.
  20. bigturtle, Thank you for your reply.
  21. I belong to two Sportsmen Clubs. One of the ponds has very clean water, while the other one has very stained water. I believe the pond with the stained water, has the better bass population. My question to you folks is, what color of Jitterbug and Hula Popper should I be using. Also, how would you fish each lure and would you use brad with a fluorocarbon leader or straight mono. Most of the bass in this pond are 10" to 16".
