  1. MN bass fishing is awesome but It’s a big state- Winona’s totally diff than Central MN which is totally diff than Northern MN. But because everyone ELSE is after walleye......
  2. Right...we would have had this week, but I’m sure not that many other folks would be out. It’s all about the walleye as we know. But that also means we are a small group who’s concerns are not widely held. In other words: ignored. No one cares but us few bass guys, so.....doubt we will see a change. Please tell me if I’m wrong
  3. Beautiful boat! How do you even sleep- very exciting
  4. is FG knot best for leaders?
  5. Now my best shot at SD smallies looks to be early May, if at all. Bummer
  6. I see it on YouTube . Looks great to me!
  7. Could be, I stand corrected. Anyway I still hope to hit S Dakota soon!
  8. ""........... Every few years there is talk of ice for the opener but it never happens. The sun is too strong now. The local weather just mentioned that it was below freezing all day YET we lost 2 in of snow. Fear not- the lakes will be open south of Ely
  9. Of course no one is suggesting that.
  10. Yes that is probably the reason, but that doesn’t explain Michigan. No season and yet they still have big bass to catch all year
  11. They are all over UTube
  12. Why not SD smallies?
  13. I think they originally thought it protected the bedding bass, but really it’s silly because it doesn’t. They are on the beds all through May, so why not open up April? Few Minnesotans care anyway. Walleye is king by a mile - I can hardly find anyone interested in bass fishing
  14. Probably Webster, but might do Roy Lake. Could do Horseshoe- recent state record smallie there of 7lbs. Just hate all the wind so we’ll see
  15. I’m hoping to hit the SD smallies in April. Heard good things and I’m dying to get out soon
  16. I learned that big skirted jigs that are Texas rigged and therefore very weedless work much better than I ever knew. Became my go to. I learned that I should have had much heavier jigs in the past years. So many more big bites. I still did Great on my previous standby: 4 in tube for LM and 3 in for SM. I also discovered the Whopper Hopper which has been fantastic. Frogging was such a waste of time! Glad to hear it wasn’t just me. still struggling with drop shot. No confidence. Just over 100 days.....
  17. Interesting how it was a tough week all over. River was great today, however. Giving up on lakes for awhile.
  18. What is your advice- when you say The lakes still have a good bite coming, what/when is the strategy? Thx
  19. River was just ok...caught a few, one 19 in. However, every eddy was FULL of leaves...very tough. Very windy. I still hope to try more late season fishing, but it’s getting to the end.
  20. The bass fishing on lakes seems dead right now. Thinking about the Mississippi onSunday. Any reports?
  21. Had to be some cold fishing that far north but sounds like a total blast
