  1. I’m not giving up on a gorgeous western sun baking a SDak glacial lake full of smallies in April to early May. However you do make a great point about WI...might do that, but I have no idea where to fish in WI. Ideas anyone?
  2. So far the weather forecast for SDak lakes region is colder than for here - not always the case - I still hope to get there in April
  3. Pick a day - if I can I will def go.
  4. Dixon- handy because no need for CA license- I’m not on a fishing trip. Had a few hours but mostly got rained out. Yes, very cool...I’ve never seen a largemouth HALF that size!
  5. This is me- I wish I could say I caught it. I’m in CA and the guy in the next boat got a 17 lb largemouth- nice guy, let me hold before release. Soon the rains came - I got little fishing in. Weather out here is as bad as anyone can remember
  6. We have a 2019 thread now FYI
  7. Yes I’m looking at it. I was there a few years ago...in fact, at the resort they said “Al and co” had just been there filming and did very well. Unfortunately for us, we hit bad weather. The issue in Dakota is wind- I feel it’s important to be flexible and just go on almost a moments notice when it’s finally nice weather. I hope to do that this year ( I also fished walleye on Waubay once and we caught about 200 14 inch fish- which gets old)
  8. Minnows under a float or use a jig?
  9. Full waders ive seen it a lot on YouTube Look up on YouTube: “Nattie Up North”...she was just there
  10. Anybody planning on wading in the river for winter smallies?
  11. I’m game for any of these dates
  12. With active fall gators, do you ever use a leader? Or would that affect the action too much? I hate losing baits to Le Homme Dieu gators
  13. It will be interesting to see if you get any good size fish. In 2016 the dnr electrofishing was not good for size, just numbers
  14. Is it true that the fall bite is over at 50 degrees water temp?
  15. I think it’s muskie time
  16. Thx Mille Lacs was 57.3
  17. Mille Lacs on Saturday included a little snow- was very cold shutting smallies down. Switched to musky and caught four walleyes on jerk baits, all about 5-6 lbs which was fun. I would post a photo but it is too big, apparently, which is annoying on this site
  18. Mille Lacs fall patterns: what has worked for any of you in the past?
  19. Behind the rocker There is a hot connection on the bottom ready to go, and on the top there is a black wire already connected. But how do I ground the new unit so it works off the console thx
  20. Yes, I am an idiot about this stuff. I want to wire the Lowrance power to the console as it seems impossible to go all the way back to the battery. The Acc rocker does have power, but I see no place to put the BLACK line. Help. Thx
  21. There’s a lot of that but it’s worth trying
  22. What we call “weeds”, the southern bass guys have always called “grass”. Some folks up north use the term as well these days.
  23. I tried it too and it worked great, used KVD sunfish
