  1. Things have been pretty crazy with the bass fishing industry partly because of youtube. The popularity of the sport has sky rocketed. According to Forbes, facebook and other social media giants have rolled out with tonnes of videos however it doesn't campare to the billions of hours we spend watching youtube videos daily. This makes me wonder where the industrty is going? The youtube fishing community is engulfing the popularity of tournament fishing in my opinion. Things are changing, and have been for a couple of years now. Many pros have also focused on creating content. Even the the problems youtube has had with its advertisers or "adpocalypse", hasn't stopped this growing trend, after all they starterd like this, with controversy from the moment they launched in 2006. This is just my rant, me thinking out loud, I still love tournaments and fishing period but it makes me wonder what's next for 2018.

  3. @roadwarrior thanks! I appreciate the braided line you sent me. Perfect timing, needed it. Going to be spooling this up today. Thanks man!!
  4. I like the sound of a good reel I totally understand what you mean, why don't you spend more and get a Sedona or a Sahara not braking the bank and you still get that good shimano drag sound.
  5. I'm comfortable with both right, left on a baitcaster it dont make a difference. Spinning reels Im only comfortable with a left hand retrieve.
  6. Your right I actually recommended it over the cross fire I had a crossfire or sweep fire by diawa cant remember which one, about 8 years ago, I do know that drag started slipping after about 6 months of using it so thats why I recommended the Trion becouse having owned the reel I know it is a better reel much smoother and will out last the lower end diawa. I don't think that the Trion lasted me more than two years. I guess Im just hard on my gear, I also have a president that lasted 4 years with minimal use only used it in the colder months for trout and it's pretty wobbly and the drag slips horribly so I'm no fan of the president either. I only use shimano reels now. And I tend to spend alot more than I used to, in other words I don't buy disposable reels anymore unless I'm going on a trip and am buying a reel for my nephews or my kids to use I'll probably buy them a trion.
  7. Remind me not to bash phluger on here next time around, won't you all pls.
  8. I had a Powell.deisel glass, crank and jerk bait rod and I regret selling it, glass is a good choice for jerkbaits depending on the action of the rod.
  9. Wow ten years, I have a president that is about 4 years that is junk now.
  10. I have used both, they are both what I consider disposable reels probably last a season or two, not saying they wont last longer, I would go with the Phluger Trion.
  11. I just got into flukes alot this year I only use the regular size zoom super fluke with a 4/0 weightless. I usually jerk jerk pause, speed depends on the conditions. I would probably dead stick it this time of year with a jerk jerk after a minute or longer of letting it sit. I also use a bait caster with it.
  12. My parents use to have a pilot and it's very comfortable to sleep in so I understand why you don't mind sleeping in the pilot. I think a dog is a good friend to bring along, don't have a dog?
  13. Thought you were a die hard fan of those reels that shall remain nameless.
  14. I use a Casitas 721 on a 68 mf mojo.
  15. Skinny bear jigs
