  2. Has anybody owned a Lews spinning reel? I recently bought several Mach2's and both broke on me. The guts gave out on my first one, so, figuring I bought a rare lemon from Lews (my luck) I went and bought a 2nd one. Well, that turned out worse than the first one...It snapped off my pole while I was lining it up. Now I'm out $200, and despite all the really awesome things I've heard about Lew's, I'm not sure I'm going to try them out again.
  3. This. I would HIGHLY recommend the Rapala loop knot. It's all I use for topwater and I haven't had one fail me in years.
  4. I felt the exact same way when they discontinued the Pumpkin Seed color. Just absolutely crushed me. Ain't gonna lie, I still fondly think of them every now and then. I'll never understand why they discontinued em.
  5. I'm a hopeless romantic for any topwater lure...Ever. But topwater is my bread n butter when it comes to bassin. I've been fishin with the WP (whopper plopper) since it first came out, so trust me when I say.... It works. Not only does it work, its my favorite topwater lure without question or contestation. Don't get me wrong, I love my frogs, Jitterbug's, Rebel Craw's, buzzbaits, Floating minnows, poppers, etc etc. But they are nowhere near as diversified when is comes to presentation vs. the WP. I've always affectionately called it "the multi-tool of topwater fishin." You can burn it, rip it, pop it, hop it, walk it, etc. It can do it all. However, it has an Achilles heel though.....It can't dive. I'll also add that night fishin with it is absolutely incredible with jaw dropping suspense. And, I caught two 40" Muskie (the fish of 10,000 casts) in just one week while fishin for bass with my bone colored 110. I won't lie, it took me a few weeks to really master the WP, but once I did....It was game on. So if you have any questions regarding the WP, (tuning the body shaft by bending it, tuning the curl of its tail/prop, or anything about it..... I'll gladly help out. Good luck, fellas.
  6. I own several of the 15A long Bombers in black. One of the most deadly lures ever, IMO. I always have at least one in the old "Plano Hydro-flo" frog tackle box.
  7. I own three 130's, eight 110's, and four 90's. First off, I just wanna say hello to my fellow anglers. I'm new to the forum and I'm always seeking (and willing to give) knowledge about this beautiful sport that we all so fiercely love. I hope y'all welcome me with open arms to the family. Rboat, I'm not sure what colors you particularly own, but I'll tell you that the "loon" color is deadly at night. For day time, I've had great success with the "Bone" and "Monkeybutt" color. Now, I'm 100% certain that some others here will say color doesn't matter on topwater, because I used to say the same thing too. But, the Whopper plopper changed my way of thinking real quick like. Anyway, you can fish it almost any way you want too. Rip it, burn it, twitch it, retrieve it, pop it, walk it etc etc. Some days you just have to find what action they're lookin for. Usually, I like to cast it alongside embankments with a 4 to 5 second steady retrieve, followed by a sudden stop. Then, use 2 quick sharp twitches, let it sit for 2 seconds and then start the process all over again. Oh, and uh, may I ask what your rod n reel setup is?
