I've been wearing the $25 ones for a couple seasons now, shore fishing forest preserve lakes and ponds, and they've held up extremely well. No complaints.
I'm with you--I used to carry a tacklebox full of heavy stuff and would only use three or four lures each trip. Wised up, now I pack a bookbag with a plano box of jigs, a few packs of soft plastics (and hooks/sinkers), my pliers, scale/measuring tape, and a headlamp. EZ GAME.
