Yes I have I fish a baitcaster prostatic 110 Zebco and I did enjoy it you could see why people do prefer these but in my situation it worked out better that I had an enclosed reel. But in the situations with overhang vegetation and Hiking through heavy brush it just seemed a better fit for me to use spincast and I never had to worry about bird nesting or getting my cast absolutely perfect.

Hey how are you guys I have to pipe in and let you know that I am that guy that uses nothing but spincast reels I get them at the Goodwill and I refurb them and I enjoy fishing with them I'm also that guy that doesn't have a boat so I'm hiking to shorelines in tight cover and it's nice Pole to use in that situation and yes they're simple but I've caught some 5 + Pounders that would make you smile and yes summer cheap summer high quality my favorite happens to be the prostaff 20/20. But I've caught 5 + Pounders believe it or not on a cheap Zebco 404. They have 15 pound test line and I can drag these bad boys through the weeds and these rods and reels of held up like I said I'm not a snob I do acknowledge the other reels more advanced but I enjoy fishing with these rods that I grew up with and that I maintain and repair and fix I guess I'm the stalled but I can catch any fish anybody else can and I have pictures to prove it.

If I can put my two cents in I got into this bass fishing by collecting old spincast reels vintage 888 I have some old 33s even some nice 2020 from the 1980s. I get them cheap and I sit at my work bench and just take her clean them lub and I go out and fish I catch bass just as well as anybody I pulled in quite a few 5 + Pounders. I don't have a boat and I'm hiking to shorelines through heavy brush and I like having an enclosed reel. It works for me. And I really haven't encountered any fishing snobs usually fisherman are very nice and if you're out there they don't care what you're using.

What a great subject to talk about I really like hearing about everyone's point of view since I don't have a lot of fishing buddies..... Well my two cents.... I love spincast because I'm the guy without the boat who ends up hiking to areas and finding lakes and ponds. I'm often walking through brush and wooded areas to get to the Shoreline and it's very nice to have a closed real that doesn't seem to catch every weed and Twig as I get to the Shoreline also I use a shorter Rod about a five-and-a-half footer so that I can flip it it mostly because there's trees and brush overhanging I swear by spincast and I have caught 5 + Pounders on Zebco 404 and my Zebco 33. I know there's a lot of fishing snobs that look down on spincast but they suit my style of fishing therefore they are perfect and like a fella said before me the fish don't know what you're using the catch them. My favorite spincast is the zebco prostaff 20/20 it is amazingly smooth and I can cast that really far and cover lots of water. I find that the secret to getting the most and best use out of a spincast is to use the lightest line you can for the fish you're trying to catch. I use 10 lb line because it offers a nice blend of strength and cast ability. I do have to say most of my spincast reels are vintage ...my hobby is to collect and refurb them I have a feeling that these are higher quality than the modern ones so maybe I'm having a better experience then someone who's purchasing new ones. Caught on a Zebco authentic series rod and a 404 reel kind of throw away set up but it' sure works.
