For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went out to Lake Henry, the 3 acre trout pond up by Clinton Lake yesterday. A buddy and I fished with a kastmaster and a spoon for about 30 min then switched to crappie nibbles. Got nothing on either. I ended up switching to a white 1/6 oz inline spinner and caught my limit of rainbows.

Have any advice on how and wear to target them, especially if I am shore fishing. If you have any shore fishing advice for catfish or suggestions on locations for shore fishing for catfish. Advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

Catfishing in NE Kansas
Hey guys. Looking for some cat-fishing advice. I live in Lawrence so I am rather proximal to Milford, Tuttle-Creek, Clinton, Lonestar, Perry, and Shawnee. I have cat fished my whole life but never really looked into techniques and results have been mediocre. If I am shore fishing, what are the best rigs and bait to use? I'm trying to target 10+lb cats. Also guys that fish in this area. Where have you had luck? Rigs used? Etc.

Need ideas for a new combo (finesse)
I saw both of your replies there and appreciate that. Wanted to post about the combo question here. Figured I would throw the question about the Pflueger in here too. I appreciate the advice from all of you guys. Forgot to mention but also plan on fishing for trout with the combo as well - if that changes anything let me know

Need ideas for a new combo (finesse)
I am inquiring about two separate issues. The first issue being that of a new lighter weight spinning combo for under $175. Second I am wanting rod recommendations for that plfueger for larger fishing.

Need ideas for a new combo (finesse)
Hey guys. For bass fishing right now I have: Baitcast Combo 1: (Bass Pro Carbonlite Rod - 7", medium power, fast action) paired with (Abu Garcia Revo S believe it is 6.4:1). Baitcast Combo 2: (Team Diawa Pro Rod (TD701MFHB) - 7", medium heavy power, action is unknown) paired with Bass Pro Qualifier Tournament edition reel looks like it is 6.4:1). I also have a Pflueger Supreme 8040 MG Spinning Reel currently without a rod and below are the specs for this reel. 8040MG 250 yards / 10 Lb. 6.2:1 9.6 oz Left & Right Medium Freshwater Currently looking for a rod and reel combo for lighter lure weight bass fishing (finesse) for light stick baits, grubs, just smaller stuff in general that my bait-casters cannot handle properly - I like quality gear that will last but also on a budget ($100 - $175 in total for combo) - Someone somewhere said BP is having a sale soon and am willing to wait a couple weeks to get something if you know anything about this. Eventually would like to put the Pflueger on something and use it for wiper or catfish maybe (it's a big reel) - recommendations are welcome

Cleaning Reels
Hey I have several fishing reels that are more than several years old and have never had their internals cleaned. I think I should probably get these things cleaned before I bust them out this season. I can feel they are not as smooth as they once were. Is it (in your opinion) more economical and practical to have them professionally cleaned? I live in NE Kansas so if anyone around here has had their reels cleaned and can comment with some prices I will PM for location.

Howdy from NE Kansas
Hey all. Been on the forums a couples days now. Figured I may find a couple more fishing buddies by posting here. Senior at a University in Kansas graduating in May. Going down to San Antonio in the late summer for military training (I commission as a 2LT in the Army in May) - hopefully I can get some good costal fishing and lunker Texas bass while I am there. I'm in my early 20's and have fished my whole life. The last couple years as I have been in school I haven't fished as much. Always been good at fishing for no reason. Fished mainly Kansas and Missouri bodies of water for largemouth and catfish. Done a bit of noodling. Had my fare share of 15" and 16" crappie. As well have been down fishing in the flats of southern Texas for redfish and sea trout. Recently I got into fly fishing which inspired me to sink my teeth back into fishing. After catching about 40 trout in two days I knew something was missing in my life - fishing. So now I am hooked again. I want to improve my performance and understanding of the techniques and technology I didn't before. So now I am here. I've dropped a couple photos of my finer catches.

That's insane! I see you obviously are not fly fishing. What are some good presentations for trout down there at shawnee?

Thanks for the advice man! Forgot I had heard about that Henry's place. Average size trout in Henry's? Largest and average size you have caught in Lake Shawnee?

Really Old Diawa Reel
Found this really old Diawa Procaster PMF-1000 (2 ball bearings). It is a beautiful reel seemingly made of quality materials. Not quite sure how old it is but I am pretty sure it is older than me. Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this reel. If it is worth anything. What I should do with it. Etc.
