    If anyone runs into a similar issue.
    I ended up using a pipe wrench and wd-40. The pole was threaded on so I just had to give it some strength and it came off, no issue

    The mepps comet was one of the first lures I ever used, I used the 1/6 oz which seemed to catch more bluegill and perch for me. The 1/4 oz caught more bass for me.
    As far as colors go, I only used the silver and it was a pretty good producer for me. Next time I go out,  I'm going to rig one on again, it's been a minute.

    I have a Shimano sienna on a ultralight set up, fantastic reel and have had no issues with it. Great budget friendly reel that will last you for a long while for sure.
