A Good Reel For The Cost

I bought two 1000 size Shimano Sienna spinning reels seven years ago. I originally bought them for a trout trip to the MO Ozarks.          After extensive use, they still work perfectly. I've caught many stocked trout, crappie, bream, and bass with these reels. For a dedicated bass reel, I'd choose the 2500 size Sienna. If there's any drawback to these reels, I'd say the thinner bail wire is one. Otherwise, they've been very reliable with basic maintenance.                                  If your on a tight budget for fishing gear, the Sienna may be a good option for you.                                                  Just an opinion, but I think they're one of the best spin reels for the dollar. At 29.95 each, it's hard to go wrong.

I love Shimano Sienna spinning reels. They’re inexpensive & work really well. If I can get 4-6 yrs of good use outta them, it’s a win! At the price point, I just toss em when they start acting up & go buy a new one at Wally World.

My sienna is from ~1997 or so and going just fine.  Loose tolerances and plenty of grease.  Keeps the world spinning.

I have a Shimano sienna on a ultralight set up, fantastic reel and have had no issues with it. Great budget friendly reel that will last you for a long while for sure.

i've got a cute sienna 500.............  i don't really use it. i think i got it to catch panfish, but it seems like a 1000 would've maybe been better.  but gtk they are good reels for the price. i do have a couple sedonas that i like, a 1000 and 4000.

I have a Sienna 2500 on a Daiwa Procyon MXF rod spooled with Seguar Smackdown and a 6 lb. leader. I like my Daiwa Revros reels more, but not that much more lol. For the price, they are hard to beat.

is the biggest potential negative with cheaper reels a bad drag system???  i guess i'm thinking of the larger size reels --- 2500 and up....  i figure with the smaller ones, the 1000's or so --- i assume if you latch onto a big bass the little reel will maybe just  die a violent death? but i'm guessing with the smaller reels, you're really going for panfish.  but yean, spreadin' the love for the sienna...
