  1. I'm planning to buy a new spinning reel around the $40 price range, but I'm not sure what to get. I'm considering buying the shimano sienna or the pflueger trion, and maybe even the daiwa crossfire but I'm having trouble deciding between them. Do you guys have any experience with these reels or do you recommend any other reels? thanks in advance
  2. If I'm fishing in clean water, then yes. I never eat fish out of polluted waters though just in case they carry something nasty
  3. thanks for the responses I'll be sure to look at some of the worms you guys mentioned. Also one more question do you guys usually fish the ribbontail worms weightless or with a weight?
  4. No I live in Markham its near toronto and I fish a lot of rentention ponds and waterbodys around the area for largemouth. I go to a few of lakes in the kawarthas in the summer and fall though so I also have some access to smallmouth
  5. Mainly for largemouth but when I go to a lake I fish for smallmouth as well
  6. also try a roman mother made swimbait
  7. I have an two piece ultralight and it works just fine, its super sensitive and also durable. For ultralights i don't like a rod too long because I'm usually using them in creeks where there may not be to much space to cast, so I prefer a 6'6 rod
  8. I usually fish some stained water around my area and want to try using some ribbontail worms this summer. There's a ton of colours on bass pro though so I'm not sure what colour to get, but I'm thinking of maybe getting a pack of red shad or black with a chartreuse tail. Any suggestions?
  9. i heard that 10 inch worms work really well for those jumbo perch
  10. a combo is good for starting out, but i would build my own combo because usually the reel or rod on a combo isn't too good. I believe that bass pro has some good combos though they match some high quality rods and reels for a slightly cheaper price
  11. When I was a kid i didn't care much about what I caught, just liked to catch a ton of fish. Worm fishing got boring sometimes though so if the kids are getting bored try switching it up to a small grub or minnow imitation like a mr.crappie lightning shad on a jighead. They're almost impossible to fish wrong and catch a ton of fish. Once kids start growing up into their teens though, they want to try to catch bigger and different types of fish. When I turned 11 I started getting into fishing and catching bigger and different types of fish, and went fishing almost everyday. I kept on fishing because I kept on discovering new species and different tequniques, which made me want to try them out and get out on the water. You can also show some children fishing videos to get them more interested. An Important thing to remember is to let them pick out their own lures. I always loved to pick out and try my own lures and going to different tackle shops. Right now I'm 14 years old and these are still the main reasons on why I fish.
  12. thanks for all the tips guys ill try them out when bass season opens
  13. In ponds there are some thick mats and also some weedy cover in some areas. There are also some lily pads but very few of them. On a lake I have access to a boat sometimes so I can go to more spots like drop offs rocky areas and weeds
  14. What kind of baits do you usually use for the big largies?
  15. Search up Bama Bass on youtube. He isn't a pro but he catches 7+ pounders regularly and gives lots of tips.
  16. I live in Canada and want to try to target some bigger northern bass this year(5lbs+). Does anyone know any tips for catching them like what setups or baits to use? Thanks
  17. 10 pounder in Canada from a while ago here is a link: http://bigfatbass.com/magzumi.shtml
  18. Mr crappie lightning shads on a jighead works well, and so do lake fork live baby shads
  19. I always catch more fish on the warmer days in winter, it seems to get the fish a little more active and they are willing to strike faster moving baits.
  20. I was wondering how much this fish weighs, any guesses are appreciated
  21. I have caught a few king salmon now, but I'm not sure how to tell a buck from a hen. Do you guys know any ways I can distinguish a buck from a hen? Thanks.
  22. I caught my first salmon today but I wasn't too sure how to hold it. What I did was grab it by the tail and cradle the top part of it's belly, but it felt a little weird. Any tips?
