  1. The one time my son and I went we caught a handful of crappie and what would have been a pin size pickerel for my son had I known about the pin program in MA. No bass unfortunately, but it was a really windy, rough, rainy day. But when you get to fish, you got to go fishing. Brian
  2. Me and my son are hitting the water Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully gonna put the new Minn Kota PowerDrive and iPilot to the test in these winds.
  3. Where at in the Assabett? Are any areas better than others.
  4. Haven’t been able to get out to check on my local bodies of water lately. Everything starting to freeze over or are there still some late winter holes open enough to get a yak in. And I don’t mind breaking a little thin ice to get in.
  5. Thanks Bob, Do you foresee any issues with standing and fishing. I can keep my excitement to a minimum and sit if necessary. My 8 year old may be another story at first. Also, does it sit pretty steady in calm waters. Lastly, not sure if your checked out the listing, does $900 for boat and TM seem like a good deal. Considerain’t offering maybe $750-800. Just don’t want to insult the seller, and the post seems pretty new.
  6. Morning Gents, I came across this boat while perusing my local Craigslist and wanted to get some opinions from the experts. So far I haven’t found a lot of posts about this boat, however, the sports pal canoe from them seems to be well liked. Boat will be used on low current rivers, ponds/small lakes (when accessible) and maybe some larger lakes if I ever get the outboard bug. This is mostly for me and my 8 year old son to get out and fish in, although my wife and 12 year old may tag along from time to time. My only concern was the semi-v hull and stability as I would like to be able to stand and fish occasionally. Look forward to any any advice and opinions you guys throw my way. Thanks. https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/boa/d/12-ft-aluminum-meyers-boat/6522882301.html Brian
  7. Thanks for the replies and suggestions gentlemen. I’ll keep doing some lurking around and see what I can find based on the recommendations.
  8. The law states weights and jigs unfortunately. I can deal with the weights as they are readily available and not crazy expensive. It’s the jigs that make it so difficult to swallow.
  9. Hope everyone is enjoying their ice out time. Up in massachusetts as I’m sure most know lead jigs are not allowed. Being from Florida I have apparently been breaking the law the last year and would like to rectify that problem. The issue I’m face with is the lack of known sources for quality lead free jigs and different weighted heads. Ones that I really like are the siebert brush jigs and mega strike jigs, I really like the way the mega strike jigs stand up. 7nfortunately they do not appear to carry a lead free version of the Shakey heads. Does anyone know of sources that have a good lead free Shakey Head in that style or perhaps a mold as I was all set to start pouring jigs until I realized I could not use lead. Thanks Brian
