  1. Obviously no duh, if they float. Obviously bath bass like suspenders.
  2. Kvd’ 300’s will suspend in water around 50 degrees. Try them in a bath tub and the float right to the top
  3. Who says using a wacky rig isn’t fishing? I don’t use it as much as I should but, I use it a lot in clear water sight fishing. I’ve used it with various kinds of senko style worms and zoom magnum swamp crawlers
  4. Finally won some lucky craft 78 sp’s. The silver one I’ve bee. Trying to win now for 3 weeks. Each one was in a 2 pack. The silver and the perch colored ones should be good colors for around here. Plus saved 8.99 on combined shipping. Should have them here in about a week. maybe on the prowl for some more I’m not
  5. For me it’s a faster technique and I know within 10-20 minutes if the fish are in that kind of mood. Pitch lure, let lure slip through pads or crash through, let it hit bottom, if a fish hasn’t grab it sometimes I will bounce it off the bottom a couple of times, than reel back up. Sometimes they will chase it as you bring it over the pads if they arnt in that kind of mood I’ll put the punching/pitching set up away for a bit. Than I’ll start picking away at the outside edges of what ever I’m punching through. Usually it could be wacky worm, mojo rig, t-rig, and or light t-rig. Running a square bill or other crank works good to if the pads, cat tails for a definitive wall.
  6. that’s probably why I keep loosing auctions on them. I upped my max bid Way up on a couple of them
  7. I could probably fill up 2 good sized boxes. I buy most of the stuff I’ll never use during the winter time. Sitting around and thinking hey I wanna try that technique or fish for that. Than when push comes to shove in the summer time it’s kinda the same old thing. In the summer I mainly buy just whatever I run out on. I try to get my self to throw stuff away every 3-4 months. More do with soft plastics rather than hard baits. 1 year is generally my time frame with throwing out soft plastics. If I havnt looked at in a year it goes in the trash. also I target multiple species which really adds the clutter sometimes. It’s always “man, I wanna rig the boat for salmon” than come august when the salmon are close enough to shore where my boat can get at them I can’t pull myself away from bass fishing.
  8. Trying to expand on my late season jerk bait success this last fall. I’m trying to stock up for the coming spring .I have Also watching a ton of you tube videos. Hook up tackle in Arizona puts out good you tube videos breaking down all the difffernt kinds of mega bass and lucky strike jerk baits. so I’ve been binging a little on them. These in this photo are all of the ones I’ve won off of eBay over the last month. 3 still in packages are lucky 100’ sp’s. I won the top 2 walleye colored ones I won on eBay for $10.50 total. The blue gill 100 sp I paid $9.50 for. The bottom right 2 are lucky craft 110 lighting pointers in ghost minnow and blue gill. I forget how much I paid but, don’t believe it was over $12. id like to add some size 78 for the spring and probably purchase a couple mega bass ones too. I’ve not used the Pointer series before. I’ve used the lighting pointer from other mfgs. Those walleye colored ones could be killer. Also could pass for perch. The bluegill looks good too for muddier or darker water. I’m sure both will get plenty of attention from the various esox species as well.
  9. I’d pick 4. Flashy for sunny and muddy water , sexy shad or chartreuse with blue back ( cloudy or sunny days , natural bait fish sunny day or cloudy days clear water , and black for cloudy and muddy days
  10. It’s kind what ever I feel like doing. I feel like I fish a straight t-rig more in the spring/early summer. Mid to late summer I switch to jigs. Brush hogs I feel work better when there is cover on the bottom IE a bunch of sunken logs or cat tails. hard bottom even though I’ve gotten away from them I like throwing a tube on a tube jig. This was the first year I’ve thrown a ribbon tailed worm. The only reason for that is I had been striking out on craws and jigs consistently on the major river I fish. I did a lot of big river fishing this year. IMHO with the 2 dam failures up stream last year it super charged the river with nutrients that brought in millions of shad from the Saginaw bay. So I feel the bass were keying in on fish type bodies more than craws senkos are more of spring/early summer thing for me unlesss I’m using 4inchers on a mojo. I prefer to wacky rig when I’m sight fishing. Also t-rigging them during the same time period. I think the last k of action helps in under 70 degree water. Plastic swim baits I’m finding work good in the spring and fall still haven’t had a ton of success with beaver type baits. im actually trying to trim down the plastic tackle selection. however, sometimes you have to throw the kitchen sink at them and see what sticks. That’s how I stumbled upon the ribbon tail worm t-rig combo. They were buried in a mangled pack in my worm bag which, I had forgotten about even having. A couple trips it felt like I was just whistling my time do I had to try something different until it worked
  11. I use them for both hunting and fishing when it gets colder. Perfect for days like today when you have to get in the water I’ve fished in three times. Twice in the last 3 weeks. Yeah its known as a good walleye lake. Apparently a lot of pike as those 2 were about 6 and 7 I’ve pulled out of it . I have yet to catch a smallie out of it but, I’ve got a good idea on where they might be for next year. it’s a good bass lake but, I know it gets a lot pressure both from bass, walleye guys and recreation traffic in the summer.
  12. No dock no problem. Apparently the miDNR must have started pulling the docks for the local launches. We can still use the launches but, we don’t get a dock. Launching is usually dry, loading up though we might get a little wet. fished little crystal in Montcalm county mi. Kvd 300 in sugar daddy ( perch) did most of the work. Biggest came on a Berkley champ swimmer perch. Also caught 2 pike and a 10 inch perch. Luckily that first pike Kinda missed or else I’d probably have lost that kvd, Ended up booking him under the mouth may have been the last trip. The rifle Deer season opens next Monday on the 15th.
  13. They are light wire hooks. If he’s Using a bait caster or a MH spinning rod with a fast action. Yeah I could see damaging the hooks if he cracked them good on the hook set. Or I’ve bent hooks using pliers unhooking fish I was debating on using the KVD hooks but, thought they would be too heavy duty as Im casting on a spinning reel. I didn’t want to change the action but, if that’s what A-jay does than I’m not that worried about
  14. I use snaps on hard baits/cranks/jerkbaits. Only time I could see use a snap swivel is either casting,/trolling spoons, or when using a salmon fly with a flasher/rotator. We have even gotten away from snap swivels trolling hard baits IE rapalas, bomber long A’s, bandits, and challengers If you decide that you have to/want a snap swivel on lure. BUY a good quality ball bearing snap swivel. A good quality crane style swivel would work too I suppose. Spend the little extra money. It will save the heart ache of the snap swivel either not doing what it’s supposed to do or breaking completely with a fish
  15. So I ended up buying a legalis 3000. Nice reel for the money. Mounted it on my dobyns and feels really good. I found it on sale for $55 bucks online. Felt way better than the president out of the box. right now due to it being fall and cooler temps up here. It is pulling a lot of jerk bait and shad rap duty. When it warms up next year it will go back to wacky rigs and other finesse stuff
  16. As I posted in another thread. Grandpa used bomber long A’s on his charter boat for steel head off of planner boards. He had a whole drawer full. I seem to remember a lot of the clown color, black and silver, orange and yellow, and other bright steel head colors. he would also use them for browns in the spring. Run the boat up on the beach in 4-5 ft of water The steel head beat those things like they stole something. He would tell us stories of skamanies ( differnt strain of steel head) hitting those bombers so hard that he’d have to cut their heads off to get the lure back. The newer Ones are still good and a very good pike bait. Usually I just use them like a crank. Plus if I loose one your not out much
  17. I do pretty well with dragging a mojo rig and a 4 inch yum dinger. A Carolina rig is basically the same thing except heavier weight. HowEver, I’ve yet to catch anything on a Carolina rig. I’d like to though. There are a half dozen lakes of the top of my head I think it would be perfect for.
  18. Might as well cut out the middle man, save time and just buy some the old K&E, Ike-con or striper Kelly pre rigged worms. Get them for like $1.99. You even get to pull the little baggies off the card board backing heck if you buy the creme version it comes with a spinner for a couple extra cents edit: I can’t believe bass pro is selling those for $5.99. As a kid we used to get those for a buck
  19. A good buddy that I havnt seen in a while and my self fished Clifford lake In Montcalm co Michigan. Temp was about 52 degrees. Here’s the two biggest we caught today. He was using a sexy shad storm arashi circuit board crank and my big one came on spro little John DD. The bass crushed it and it’s the first time I’ve had a bass choke it side ways. It bled a lot hopefully it made it. I tried not to rip the gills getting the hooks out but, she was hooked deep. I caught about 10 bass total with most coming on a 300 kvd suger daddy jerk bait. Hopefully that wasn’t the last trip of the year
  20. First hard baits I’ve bought in a couple months. Picked these 2 up from Vandam ware house In Kalamazoo mi. Ordered and had them in 2 days. Perch color ( actually named sugar daddy, should be called perch though ) and a new pro black color. The suger daddy is going to replace the other perch I lost last Sunday. Tomorrow is payday so I’ll probably order either lucky strike or mega bass jerk baits.
  21. Currently I only have one cranking rod. I’m working on getting a 2nd for deep cranking. Ideally I’d like to have a rod for 3-12 ft and than a rod for 12+ feet. Granted I probably only need the deep cranking rod for 3 out of the 8-9 months I’m able to fish. Now not all lakes or rivers I fish would need the deep crank rod. So it would be like my punching rod and be a situational thing. Shallow crank rod I always take
  22. 4 inch yum dinger on a split shot/mojo rig. Black and blue in dirty water or watermelon pearl in clear water. I need to get into shaky head though
  23. Other than mega bass what be other refined jerk baits ?
  24. That top 300 is a really good color
