I blew up my 7'1" MF Spinning Rod.
Not if you cut that son of a gun off. I had to. I bought two of the Fate Chrome Spinning rods to handle all my finesse applications because I like the casting models -- bad idea.

Wait a darn minute, you guys never backlash your spinning reels? I believe wind knots are honestly worse.

I blew up my 7'1" MF Spinning Rod.
Oh lord. I didn't clarify that the rod that got cut in half by an S-Waver was an entirely different setup. The spinning rod was elevated at an angle on a piece of vegetation behind me. The S-Waver managed to touch it rather powerfully during me starting my cast on an 8' Daiwa DXSB Heavy. Sorry @Michigander and @PhishLI, didn't mean to not clarify. I would never throw my swimbaits on a spinning outfit.

I blew up my 7'1" MF Spinning Rod.
I whipped an S-Waver right into the last third of that stick today with enough force to snap the spinning rod where it connected. The 168 did not stop and the reel did not backlash, so that's a plus. It was also my least favorite rod. 13 Fate Chrome 7'1" Medium Fast Spinning, and there was never a less accurate or less consistent stick. I am absolutely ashamed of it's performance. Do not buy that rod. It can't cast accurately nor for distance, and it can't even withstand several ounces of hard plastic hitting it at whatever mile per hour my mighty heaving overhead cast propels it at. Do not buy that rod. This is just a PSA. I'm going to replace it with a 7' Daiwa Tatula XT Medium Fast. As for the aforementioned rod, don't buy it. You'll cleave it in half with an S-Waver after hating it for having no redeeming qualities.

Banning skin mounts
Nevils, GA, waaaay back in the woods pond. I wish I had some farm ponds chock full of livestock steroid runoff! As far as the S-Waver koolaid goes, yes. I've caught three fish off of it now and they've all been at least two ponds. My first was a two out of Evans County PFA(I swear there isn't more pressured water). Then I lost a tank right after, she hit right beside me and she was big. That was back in early December. Then today, first a bite, then a nice fish. The S-Waver works. I've caught more fish on it than a Ned rig! Man, I hate that thing. I bet it would make a hell of a bed bait, though. Tell them it's just hard bottom.

Banning skin mounts
I was on a pretty good private pond. I had a really killer day. I don't think the biggest was on the bed, she absolutely hammered an S-Waver 168. Besides that I caught them on my BOSS Finesse Flip Jigs with YUM Money Craws cut to size. The craws were absolutely deadly on a shakyhead too. The only fish I can guarantee that was on the bed was a buck bass I managed to make hit after half an hour of repositioning, hiding, finally getting behind a dog fennel and snatching his ass onto the bank on the set. He was probably 2.5. His girlfriend is twice his size, at least. Gonna try for her on Saturday.

Entry Level Side Imaging Unit
I forget that most of the time people are talking about mounting to a boat instead of an in your face kayak.

Worst hooksets?
Frogs, mostly because it's hard to keep in mind I should be waiting before I slam them but also because I don't have a dedicated rod to drive the double hooks home. Crankbaits also give me a time. I lost a beauty last year because the rod I was using was undoubtedly too stiff. I think I'm going to ask for a deep cranking rod for my birthday.

Underspins
Just trying not to spend 4-5ea on a piece of terminal tackle I'm bound to lose. I've thought about wrapping wire around hook shanks and twisting eyes at the end and adding swivels and blades. I'm probably just better off buying the suckers.

Entry Level Side Imaging Unit
Humminbird Helix 5 is the tickrt. I've got a buddy who uses one and if you dial in your settings you end up with some really great side imaging.

Pflueger or Lew’s.
The Revros is a great reel.

Underspins
South Carolina, I'm guessing? We're absolutely flooded in Georgia as well. I'll be happy when someone rigs up a DIY underspin for jig heads!

New Kayak!
Those lake regulations annoy me. I don't understand why sit on top kayaks are prohibited, they're a much safer option than sit inside. Perhaps they're worried you might be able to recover your boat should you turtle. Anyway, don't let your craft limit you as everyone else has said. Use whatever rod you like, everyone who says a kayaker should use short rods is, in my often not humble option, wrong.

Berkley Powerbait Samurai Hawg
I would Carolina rig that sucker, first and foremost. I like big, bulky baits on my Carolina rigs. Second, I would pitch it in light to moderate cover. There are a lot of appendages to get caught up on a thicker laydown or grass patch, and I would opt for a more streamlined bait for that. Third, I would put it on a swing head and fish it like a crankbait.

Is there a worm that can be fished more like a lure?
I double duty them and fish them like a standard weighted Texas rig with the weight pegged so it'll fall accurately into holes or near cover or I swim them along like other moving baits.

Kayak fishing net
Ego Wade Net, Medium Clear Rubber. 58 bucks on Amazon, fits snugly in a rod holder. I sometimes feel disadvantaged if a bass goes on a run at the boat and wish I had a longer handle. However, when I did use a longer handle it was annoying. Pick your poison.

What has helped you improve the most as an angler?
I wouldn't mind doing this at all. I used to love freediving.

What has helped you improve the most as an angler?
I'm never entirely sure how good I am, but I know how I'm going to improve on it this year. I consider myself a student of the game, but I have trouble trusting how educated I am on the subject of bassing. I can certainly talk with certainty for hours. This year I am going to spend more time focusing on seasonal patterns to eliminate dead water and scan them with my electronics. I am done junk fishing for a while, it's time to see with my hands on a rod and trust that.

Favorite Prop Bait ?
H2O Xpress Slush Daddy. I love $4.50 lures that catch fish. When Academy unlisted all their hard baits a year or so ago I about lost my mind. I've been wanting to try the Berkley Spin Rocket.
