  1. Them there slither rigs are absolutely awesome and I'll be trying them soon.
  2. @reason, yeah, it's a pedal kayak. I don't really have big water near me with my largest body of water being about 55 acres. Plus, it handles the inshore and off the beach saltwater much better than the 1436 Tracker I was using. After I bought my first Hobie my poor boat started collecting dust. I hope the guy who bought it is getting use from her.
  3. Hobie PA14, threw it on an 18 month no interest card.
  4. Get the boat. I'm still paying 200 a month on my kayak and I have a fiancee who is supportive as well, just make sure you're supportive of her. You have plenty of extra money!
  5. 6'1", 210. I was standing and paddleboarding for redfish in a 2010 Outback, and that boat wasn't designed for standing on. At 34" wide and designed to be stood on, you're gonna be fine in the Lure, @the reel ess.
  6. The Mirage Drive by Hobie is faster than propeller drive systems, but both are viable for kayak fishing and sometimes I wish I could switch between forward and reverse as effortlessly as you guys do. I do hate to hear it's at that much of a speed disadvantage.
  7. South Georgian, so I don't have to worry about any ice fishing. The coldest I've ever been while out was after a drive to Savannah one morning to fish inshore, it was 35 degrees...which ain't nothing, I'm fine. The problem was it was also raining. I froze my butt off that morning for one very worth it speckled trout. I love fishing, my personal comfort comes second.
  8. Caught two carp this year by accident, one of them easily 40" long. Both were on 12# fluoro, and those things freak right out and make ridiculous runs. They just truck. I'm gonna guess a turtle.
  9. Feel Free makes an awesome boat. We've got a guy down here on the Hobie team, he told me if he had to switch to a paddle yak it would be a Native Slayer or a Feel Free Lure. If you like it, I would for sure put the pedals in it. I can cover a lot of water in the Hobie Pro Angler. 6mph isn't hard to attain, and I've topped out at 7. It cruises at about 4 and I imagine the Lure could come pretty close. I've been wanting to buy a Hobie Compass to use for punching through the surf and to double as a paddle craft in my local rivers.
  10. @NittyGrittyBoy they've been listed in full on the website again and there are new colors available. The two people I talked to on the chat flat told me they had been discontinued, and one told me she would have an e-mail sent with further information. I don't think they would put discontinued bait back up with new colors, and I haven't received an e-mail. I think the chat help there is garbo. I'm not really worried about information sources, trolling, or the maker of these baits. I know when they go on sale for 2 bucks a pop I end up with a pretty quality squarebill, etc.
  11. And they are back. I had two of their people on chat tell me they were discontinued. Mildly annoyed. Academy has trolled me. Nice find, @reason.
  12. Got a little boy on the way in February, saving to move, and saving for a wedding. I'll celebrate them in Georgia, @Troy1985s.
  13. Regardless of who makes the baits, they catch fish. I just out-produced my x-raps with my ultimate jerk shads today. I'm not saying they're better by any means, but they catch freaking fish at the lowest of price points and other store brands do not compare. If you're gone, H2O Xpress, I will mourn you. Pay your respects, heathens.
  14. Fishing from a 14' sit on top kayak, a Hobie Pro Angler 14, I can carry six rods on the crate, two more in the rear rod holders, and six more in the rod storage. I'm planning on fishing some kayak tournaments this year, so I plan to have 6-8 behind me and two on the deck. The two on the deck are multi-use setups to mimic whatever pattern I can identify. I'll learn what to carry and what not to carry as I go, but the Hobie can carry a lot of junk and keep it organized very easily. Planning on modifying my crate so I can store the rods in the rear horizontally for bombing overhead casts without worry of blowing up a reel when a bait contacts a stowed rod.
  15. The Earth is neither flat nor spherical, but obviously an oval. I'll let you know once I get my river finished. The only thing I have found pertaining to the production of the lures was on tackleunderground, unconfirmed sources. Good call, I don't think anyone here knows for sure. Thanks for adding a bit of comedic trolling to the thread, guys, I do a share of it myself. I'm still heartbroken over the loss of my value bills and jerks.
  16. I knew that Luckycraft made the CRS and M, but had no idea that Bandit and Spro did stuff for them as well. Perhaps they'll iron out a new contract soon, I have heard good things about the Aruku and do believe Bandit makes a quality product. Academy, don't let me down. I refuse to use the turds BPS puts out, I'll spend 15 bucks a bait before that happens.
  17. Take your shoes off when you come in this house!
  18. Yeah, I've been scouring the net trying to figure out replacements for all the H2O lures I use and planned to use and it just hurts.
  19. Scored a third new Daiwa Fuego CT in 7.3:1 for 51 bucks last night on eBay.
  20. Small pond, tons of dinks and a small population of 5-10 pound or more fish, and the big girls are very cannibalistic. Set the hook, pull a small one in, 5er smacks the dink, knocks the hook through the dink, and gets foul hooked. I would never believe you if you told me that, but it happened.
  21. They also do well for inshore and offshore fishing if you're lucky enough to live near the coast!
  22. @BigAngus752 speaks the truth. They're my go to. Difficult to backlash, casts as well as any reel with an MSRP of 99 bucks not named Shimano Casitas, but they come in more gearing options. I've accidentally foul hooked two 25 pound or more carp with these reels and the drag did not fail for some tiring battles to get my hooks out their tails. I've caught 20"+ red drum with them, and those fish outpull any largemouth not jacked up on dianabol and testosterone. They're just absurdly jam up.
  23. She was a tough one, expect a 12+ to be posted up when the spawn comes. Private pond. Easy peasy stuff. I was told online that the now unlisted lures are discontinued, but I will report back once Academy emails me more information. I'm hoping they're just switching them up a bit or moving to a new factory rather than having to lose my favorite jerkbait and squarebill.
  24. My name is Troy, too! It seems people with great names save money and throw a pretty solid bait, @Troy1985s.
  25. Went online to stock up on the H2O Xpress Squarebill and Ultimate Jerk Shad only to find they're no longer listed on the webpage. I spent a lot of time researching these baits, looking at them, and finally bit the bullet and bought a double handful. They were the first squarebill and jerkbait I've had any serious success with, and I had planned to buy their deeper jerkbait, medium depth cranks, and deep cranks as well hoping for more value priced producers. They're all gone online. I spoke with a chat representative and she informed me that they had been discontinued. I guess once my spare kayak sells I'll be making the two hour drive to stock up. This is a major kick to the gut for me. Does anyone have any insider information? Will they be replacing these baits with a new product?
