St. Croix Mojo Bass vs Bass X
I own a 7’1” mh/f(bc) and a 7’1” m/f(sp), both bass x. Awesome rods for the price. Unfortunately my puppy got ahold of both, and it wasn’t pretty. I’m now replacing them with mojos, due to the blanks, but highly recommend the Bass X series to anyone who may be “stretching the budget” for a $100 rod. At first they seemed a little “light” on the power, but as I got more comfortable I realized that it was actually balanced quite well with the sensitivity of the rod. Basically any power it was “light” on was made up for in “feel”. Excellent quality and sensitivity. Easy on the eyes, and comfortable to use.

New to bass fishing in southern AZ
Thanks guys. Great website and awesome community you’ve all built here. Super glad I found it. I’ve been fishing a local lake (Kennedy) here in Tucson a couple days/week in the late afternoon/early evening. But despite my persistence, I continue to get skunked. Other bass guys I come into contact with (usually carrying an ugly stick or similar casting combo) always make claims of “5 or 6 bass”. Mostly on “plastics”. So I fish mostly plastic worms split shot on spinning gear, or larger plastics (space monkeys, mag bugs, etc.) T-Rigged on MH casting gear, to no avail. ?♂️ Could these kind strangers be putting me on?? Am I missing something? Or am I just “holding my mouth wrong?”? Thanks again guys.

What rods do you carry in your small boat?
I frequently fish from my 16’ canoe with electric motor. I’ve found that managing more than 3 rods, in my half of the boat, is really a pain. Currently carrying a 7’1” m/h a 7’10” m/h (that needs to be repaired or replaced) and a 6’6” med. spinning setup. Curious to know what other people carry in their small boats. Also interested in any small boat tips/tricks you all may be willing to share. TIA. -Mackley

Best tactics for Roosevelt Lake
Heading out to Roosevelt Lake AZ this weekend and looking for some advice on what to stick with. I plan to fish smaller areas (likely between the dam and the salt) from a canoe w/ electric motor. I’ll have 3 rods rigged up, a 7’1” med/heavy/fast, a 7’10” med/heavy/“cranking” rod, and a 7’ med action spinning rod. What would be 3 good rigging methods for working spot to spot with as few rigging changes as possible. I’m fairly new to bass and a little overwhelmed so any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
