What major effect does the lack of an infinite anti-reverse have. Is it something which is markedly noticable? No big deal? Yes got to have it? Thanks!

Looking to buy another spinning reel setup. Currently have Shimano symetre and Shimano Clarus rod. Nice setup for me. Question at hand. Are Daiwa SS series spinnning reels worth the money? Too dated? For those who have any thoughts before I spend any more money let me know. Thanks!

I live in depths of SE Indiana country side. Lots of farm ponds throughout. I did not grow up here so finding a place to fish with permission has been a little difficult. Have worked with this girl for 5 years. She lives 2 miles away. Just mentioned fishing and she says my Mom has a pond about 100 years old and fished maybe twice a year at the most. This pond is about two acres and I have driven past it everyday and never even knew it was there. Sits way down in a valley and you cannot see it. Yes I can fish there anytime. I never keep any fish and they know this. So i am going fishing. Hot. Really hot first time I go. High noon and I have a babysitter for three hours so I go. Take only one Shimano spinning rod and reel. Three roadrunner jigs and I am off. In two hours I catch 18 huge crappie. Bigger than any I have caught in KY Lake. 5 bass. Four about 1-2 lbs and the fifth about 6 lbs easy. Also see a school of fish swimming in group of five. Unbeliveable. Huge yellow perch when one finally rolls the top five yards from me. All this time and I never knew what I was missing. Happy fishing!

thanks for the replies. very helpful and all very nice suggestions. I think marty is right though. cant have the best of both worlds when fishing two different types of fish. so with that in mind. BPS has for 149.99 the shimano symetre with xps prolite rod. any thoughts? still maybe a bit of overkill for panfishing? I am having to refrain from another shimano baitcaster even though its killing me!

FISHING FOR CRAPPIE AND PANFISH BUT WOULD ALSO LIKE TO FISH WEIGHTLESS SENKO'S AND SUCH. GOING TO BPS THIS WEEKEND SO HELP ME OUT PLZZZZ! ALSO WHICH WEIGHT LINE AND THE SUCH WOULD YOU RECOMMEND. I was fishing a new pond with alot of really good bass. love to t-rig a lizard or worm but the bottom is so mossy i was pulling up a pound of moss each time. what rigging method for fishing plastics do you guys use with good results in these kind of situations? thanks!

After getting back into fishing after 20+ years I have a question regarding one of my older reels. It is a garcia 5000C. The black model. I was wondering what the gear ratio is for this model. I recently purchased two Daiwa advantage reels with the team advantage rods. My garcia is still in mint condition and was wondering if it still had a place in todays fishing world. I just cannot find the specs for it. Thanks!!
