Contour Structure Maps
As far a C-Map Genesis goes that is created by owners of a compatible GPS/fish finders and they upload the data and it appears on the map.

Contour Structure Maps
I sure doesn't. Bummer. I know it is not much of a consolation but I wish Navionics scanned as many lakes and ponds in my state as yours. Wow! Anybody know if Navionics still adds bodies of water and does updates?

Feeling terrible and discouraged about accidentally killing a bass
^^^^^ This! Pliers are great and a necessary tool for fishing. Forceps, hemostats, whatever you call them they are much smaller, longer, thinner. They come in every conceivable size. Used to be able to go to the hospital and get them, they would toss out lots. Best of all you can get them angled and they slip through the gills much easier.

Plastic that doesn't work on drop shot?
One of my favorite things about the drop shot. You can put anything on that hook and catch fish. The other day I put a Mr Crappie joker on a drop shot, obviously this bait was made for a 1/8 or 1/16oz ball head jig, but caught the 2 biggest fish of the day. I tend to stick to smaller presentations though. Probably the largest bait I ever used on a drop shot was a Zoom Super Fluke. Throw a beaver style bait or a bulky creature bait on there, you'll probably get bites.

12ft vs 13ft Kayak
Agreed. Feel Free Lure 11.5 priced great, quality looks top notch, IMO without sitting in it best seat in the game. The real reason I almost bought one was the seat. I also agree the plastic does seem better, thicker on the lure. In the end I just prefer the Vibe. I don't like sonar pods, don't plan on being on waters I would need pedals, and although most people think the center console is in the way, I like it and is a big reason why I am buying it.

12ft vs 13ft Kayak
Wow! A lot of people might consider that step down. I think it is a great move. I am moving into a 2019 Seaghost next year. I have been trying to find a boat that I like better. Feel Free- unique rail system, nope. Wilderness- no flush mounts?. Jackson- seems as nice as a Vibe only way more money. Three Waters- Tempting but too heavy. Bonafide- tempting but also too heavy. Old Town Pred- looks like a great boat, lot of people like it. In the end I keep coming back to the Seaghost, even with the new Shear Water coming out. I don't like the fish finder pods all the new kayaks are coming out with. For my needs,Vibe's current system seems better. It probably is not the best kayak for standing and fishing, but that is not a high priority for me. I currently fish out of the Vibe Skip jack. Weight was the deciding factor, 46lbs. It is only 9' long and really has everything I need except a comfortable seat. The skip jack is the only Vibe without a framed seat. I still believe you get the most bang for the buck with Vibe and there are a lot of new under 1000 fishing kayaks out there. Krux, stability and trackabillity are advantages of length. The disadvantage is carrying it around.

Stupid pitching question
Funny this thread came up. I was on vacation last week in Newport RI. Did a lot of drinking and not much fishing. Where I was staying has a 40' deck. I decided it was a good place to learn how to pitch. I pitched for 5 days on that deck, using mostly solo cups for targets. Got pretty good and realized why pitching is an important technique in your arsenal. I was in my kayak on Tuesday, I do not have a raised seat. Much more difficult from that position but totally doable. Keep practicing. I found it harder and much more involved to pitch with my spinning setup, I need to try that again.

Tokyo Rig
I fished the Tokyo rig for the first time last Saturday. The pond I was fishing in has mostly clean bottom. I was dragging it along the bottom, not hopping, just a smooth slow drag. Caught a couple of bass with it. Zoom baby brush hog with a tungsten barrel weight.

Falcon BuCoo SR Rod
I have a 7' med hvy and it feels like a med. Really nice and light though, love it. Look at it's lure weight rating, 1/4 to 3/4. It seems pretty accurate, it is just most other rod companies would call it a med.

Bank fishing approach for late summer?
It was right around 90 degrees on Sunday.Water temps were just above 80. Decided to go hit the bank around 7:30pm fish until dark. Brought 2 rods with me a spinning combo with a wacky rigged Yum dinger and a bait caster with a weighted Texas rigged Zoom super fluke. This pond is a couple hundred feet from my house and there is a decent amount of shoreline to fish and I hit a few spots with zero bites. It is now 8:30 and getting dark I have no flashlight so time to leave. There is a spillway I have to pass on my way home and the water was high enough to be moving. Had to at least toss a bait in there before I take off. Second cast of the fluke produced a violent strike from a 1lb bass, fluke was ruined. Cast out the Yum Dinger and it was crushed as soon as it hit the water, unbelievable. Yum Dinger was gone, I went home. I am kind of new to all this but I think the moral of the story was the fish were where the high concentrates of oxygen were.

Yum Warning Shot
Just bought a couple of packs of the warning shot and the kill shot. Warning shot looks better than the kill shot. Both look awesome. Can't wait to use them. KVD dream shot is killer Missile Baits bomb shot. Drop shot heaven.

Why I fish but do not hunt since age 12.
Shoot and release hunting? Go in the woods, sneak up on a deer, and tap him on the shoulder and say " Tag! your dead!". Or just snap a quick selfie. That would be impressive.

Kayak Paddle Thread
I'm a fool, I work with Steve, he's a good man. Yes I meant Eric. I was at work when I was typing this so I had Steve Jackson on the brain. I was curious and did a little more research the other day because while he was fishing and talking to the camera he talked about white water kayaking. Very cool guy. Lot of fun to listen to also.

Kayak Paddle Thread
I have been researching a new kayak and I gotta say all the Jackson kayaks seem over-rated and a little over-priced. It was oppressively hot this weekend, did some fishing early but spent Sunday afternoon inside. I watched an old FLW tournament (last year?) on Lake Champlain. It was a 7 hour video on you tube. Steve Jackson, the owner of Jackson kayak, has been on that tour for a while and the one I was watching was the first time he made it to the top 10. Well, he was one of the only guys they could get good footage on so the coverage stayed on Steve for a good portion of the broadcast. What a cool guy. All the other anglers were pretty quiet, said a couple of things to the viewers here and there. Steve, on the other hand, was constantly talking to the audience even calling his shots. Totally hamming it up and just having a great time fishing. He was just jazzed to be in the top 10. Good stuff.

Day of firsts broken rod
BPS will not cover it. 60 days with Bass Pro. 1 year warranty for all BPS brand. I have already been on St Croix web site. Looks like I just have to pay shipping. I can live with that. Thanks guys I am going to work on my technique for landing fish, little more line little less bend in the blank. Oh I almost forgot keep a sharp eye out for snapping turtles.

Day of firsts broken rod
Thanks man. It was a great morning 8 fish in 2 hours, 4 of them were way bigger than anything I expected to catch today. All great stuff. Hopefully the good fortune continues at BPS and I return with a brand new rod without to much discomfort.

Day of firsts broken rod
Hi all, hope everyone is having a nice weekend, I am in Attleboro Ma. About 5 miles from Gillette stadium and 3 miles from the RI boarder. It is going to be close to 100 deg this weekend. This morning got up early no fish finder, no camera set up for photos. Going lo tech and heading to the pond right down the street from my house. Quick couple of hours. Don't need a camera because I always catch fish here but always small. Big trout here but small bass. Ha! 6am 7'1" med St Croix Mojo Bass, 12lb Pline floroclear 1/4 oz tungsten shakey head w/ Zoom shakey head worm wtrmln red. Fishing a shaded shoreline. A 15-20 lb snapping turtle comes swimming by. I move down the bank further. I get a good bite right off the bank, 2 pound bass wow! that is nice for this pond. 2 minutes later another bass about the same size. So I am in a kayak and when I catch a fish I reel in till about 5' of line is out, guide the fish to the left side of the boat, switch hands, and arch the rod/line over my head and lip the fish while it is still in the water. As little stress as possible on the blank. Well as I am about to lip this bass something was following it, I thought it was another bass but as it came out of the mirky depths it was a snapper trying to eat the fish that was on my line. I quickly steered the fish away from the turtle to the front of the kayak, got a better hold of my rod and lifted the bass to the other side of the boat but could still see the turtle below. So I winched the fish in over my boat he shook and the rod tip snapped. I did land the fish. It was great day, caught my first fish on chatter bait, caught my first fish on buzz bait. Which was also my first top water fish. Awesome. So I have read a lot on this site about blanks, how they are not really built to bend beyond 90 deg. Did I subject this rod to too much? I am in southern New England, I don't catch giant bass. A giant bass is 4 pounds. This fish might not have even been 2lbs. Do I really need to be more careful? Higher end blanks tend to be even more fragile? Is a 130.00$ rod a high end blank? I loved this rod and plan on getting another. I just bought the rod in January, I will see if BPS will take care of me, I think they will.

Does it hurt a fish when you drop it
I guess what I meant by doesn't feel a thing was... If I had a hook in my mouth and somebody was pulling on it, my lips have nerve endings, I am going to be swimming/running my butt as fast as I can to get to whomever is tugging in hopes of stopping the pain. I guess a fish maybe doesn't feel the hook in it's lip as much as it feels the tug of it's skin getting pulled tight.

Does it hurt a fish when you drop it
If you could sneak up on a bass and touch it on its side, I think it would know you touched it, so the bass felt it. When a bass is hooked in that hard plastic/ cartilage area of its mouth, it doesn't feel a thing. I have no idea what I am talking about, just looking at it logically.
