What do you throw with this combo? I've got the same rod. I even had the same reel paired up with my 754c Xtasy at the end of last year but I switched from a tat sv 8:1 to a metanium 8:5 for throwing jigs this year. I love both combos. Skipping was easier with the tat but I love the metanium for palming on the retrieve. John L.

Rod question
Sounds like you have the rod picked out. I throw jigs almost exclusively year round. Some plastics here and there. But if your used to throwing lighter jigs, imo, I would grab anywhere from a gen4 RevoS to a Shinano currado 70 for smaller jigs. Something that wont break the bank. If money doesn't matter get a Alderbaran 50 or even a bantam. But I've never held a legend Elite so I'm not sure what the swing weight would do for your reel in hand feel. I've got an 7'4" H/F S.C. Avid that I use to punch with braid and sometimes throw fluro with. Just out of curiosity, have you even used any of the Zodias rods? They are really nice for the price if your looking to throw jigs. I've got a zodias / currado 70 combo for smaller jigs and love it. To answer your question about the rods action, the moderate fast action will be a little bit slower to respond with your hook sets compared to a fast action blank. I don't have a ton of knowledge when it comes to rod actions. I normally throw some size of 7' rod ( all my rods are 7'+ ) and mh/f or h/f.

Climax Fishing Line (German made)
Has anyone used this line? Braid, fluro, mono, fly line, catfish line.. any of it?. I can't seem to find a distributor in the US. I would love to try the 12 carat line or the platinum line of braid.. found something on Amazon UK. That's about it. Nothing concrete locally.. https://www.climax-fishingline.de/en/products/braided-lines/ Here is their main website.. if they make fishing line anything like their cars, It would be lights out!

Dobyns Xtasy 755 first impressions
I own 2 NRX rods myself. The 893c jwr and 894c jwr. I actually bought them prior to the Xtasy rod and love them without a doubt. But there's just something about the dobyns Xtasy rod. It's very very accurate when casting and the cork is unreal. Its wicked soft. Best cork I've ever held. It's pretty close to the weight of my 894c nrx but not quite as light as the 893c I own.. I bought it towards the end of last year so to he honest, I havent had a ton of time on the water. I've got more time on the water with my NRXs. I'll be interested to see how the Xtasy rod feels after I find out which baitcaster disappears in hand. I just bought a Metanium mgl. That may be the reel of choice for 2019 but maybe not. The bantam mgl might be used too. I'm not sure yet. The rod felt great with the heavy breaking tat sv though. I was skipping jigs for the 1st time ever with the sv103/Xtasy combo towards the end of last year and loved every second of the experience so. Happy to hear you ended up getting one. Let's see some pics of the sv after the upgrades on your Xtasy rod ifyou get a chance to take some!

Dobyns Xtasy 755 first impressions
I'm sure the time has passed but if you still have the option, I would buck up and get the Xtasy.. just keep in mind you might have a hard time picking up anything else for a while after you've tied on your reel of choice.

Abu Garcia - Ike Series Rods - Gen 1
I own the 1st gen abu ike power series 7'2" MH baitcast rod paired to a currado 200k and love the combo. I will agree that it is a bit stiff for being a med/heavy but it's still a great all around rod. That was my 1st baitcaster rod and I used the hell outa that rod and put a pretty good beating on it over the past 3-4 yrs and its help up very well. Jigs, plastics, crankbaits.. everything. Up until the beginning of this year I've started exploring different brand rods other than Abu. I loved the ike power series rod I've got soo much, I bought the abu garcia villan 2.0 in a 7'5" MH. Before I started using baitcast gear full time, I used a veritas for my spinning setup. So I like abu. They hold up quite well considering the price point most of their stuff falls into.. I do find abu rods to run heavier than most other companies. I use my villan to frog and punch and jig but. Keep in mind, some of the newer abu ike rods, longer than 7'2'' feel very heavy in weight, in the hand.. That's why I stuck to the 7'2''. Lighter, stronger, and versatile. But you cant go wrong if your not sure. They will always have a spot in my lineup somewhere next to my higher end rods like the dobyns extreme, Xtasy series and G. Loomis sticks that I love so much. This whole fishing thing.. it's a disease that I love to hate

Dobyns Xtasy 755 first impressions
Nice write up for sure. I myself own the 754c and I love it. I overnight'd it from t.w. as soon as it was available. Probably the 2nd day it was posted. I also own the 894 and 893c NRX jwr's and love them too. The sensitivity with the Xtasy line is definitely up there. The weight isnt quite what an NRX is but it's close enough to love it anyways. I've got my Xtasy rod paired with a tat sv 8.1:1 for jigs because that's mostly all I throw year round. I mainly use my 893c / alderbaran 50 for light plastics and 1/4oz jigs, the 894 / bantam combo for 3/8 - 3/4oz jigs and topwaters and the dobyns Xtasy 754c is almost kind of in the middle of both NRXs. It feels so nice paired with the Tat sv. My 1st dobyns buy was a DX 743c i paired with a tat sv 8.1:1. Something about dobyns and the sv reels just makes sense. I am now, however, curious on how my bantam will work on the new Xtasy rod. My intentions we to keep the rod light with a somewhat lightish reel but the swing weight might be really nice when the jig bit is on. I may play around with the bantam / Xtasy combo and swap out the sv... unfortunately this year is coming to an end faster than I hoped out here in New England. If anyone is considering either the NRX or the Xtasy rods, you really cant go wrong. If you don't mind the price tag of these higher end rods, they are well worth the extra money. So much fun to throw all day long. It's hard to put them down

That sounds like a solid little reel. Thank you for that. I may reconsider picking up one. My 7'2" MH abu ike rod doesn't have a reel on it. I was debating between tatula 100 reel or the color matching ike abu reel that t.w. just added to their inventory about 3 weeks ago. Is it sad I'm that much of a tackle junkie, I know when t.w. posts new gear?

Your idea of light for rod/reel?
Thank you for the technical explanation on this subject. I feel that its always interesting how the rod weight feels depending on which reel is attached. I always go by feel when changing in and out rods and reels. One of the most comfortable rod and reel combo I currently own isn't the lightest combo I own. Just baised on the "swing weight" that I feel when the combo is in my hand, makes for a good all day rod. No matter the lenght or action. In the end, I guess the total weight matter to an extent. But then again, I like using my lightest & most expensive combos the least. That way I won't have a favorite combo and neglect my lower end gear..

Your idea of light for rod/reel?
I understand where your coming from.. I do.. however, for the type of fishing I do, which is mostly plastic/jig bottom contact, balance and feel and sensitivity are the most important factors I consider when buying my gear. And at the end of the day, and I've fished from sunrise to sunset, the weight and balance make fishing more enjoyable for me. Unfortunately the weight reduction comes at a price for some, more than others..

Hows the tatula 100?.. I was considering picking up one of these myself but went with the SV again because I love the way it feels. Very mechanical like. Unlike the Shimano reels I own which are extremely smooth. I was also hesitant because I've seen the new cg 80 and wasnt very happy with paint overspray inside the spool cavity. So I went with another 8.1:1 sv. I like smaller reels. I love my currado 70, mgxtreme, and alderbaran because they are small and fit my hand better.

Your idea of light for rod/reel?
Hello to all ? Hope I don't side track everyone. And, not that this has anything to do with the last few comments but... My idea of a light combo would be my own current favorite baitcasting combo. Light in anybody's opinion, if you ask me. I literally weighed it today on my lunch break.. Including the swim jig, speed shad, and braided line it came to 7.5 oz total. NRX 893c jwr, 20lb max quatro on a Alderbaran 50.. I throw mostly jigs. I'm not sure how many of you have had the opportunity to hold a NRX never mind throw one or own one but it's pretty amazing. 110% worth the high dollar price tag.
