Be very careful anchoring in a river. I've flipped once doing it and had another close call this summer. What happens is, when the anchor gets stuck and you go to retrieve it by positioning the yak perpendicular to where the line is going into the water, the current will wash over the top of the yak and flip you. I no longer anchor in strong currents or rivers. I had to detach and throw the anchor line in the water on the second close call. Retrieved it after I got my senses back.
