  1. Thank you, Molay, I will definitely be paying more attention to this and make sure they're getting adequate lubrication. What grease do you like? I've been using SuperLube but since I found out that it doesn't mix well with oil and some of the greases do, I am looking for a better grease. Thanks so much
  2. Thanks, PapaJoe, will do. That sounds like a good tip
  3. Are you referring to the clutch bearing and innertube If you are, I usually take a q-tip with a little reelx and swab out the inside of the bearing of excess grease and put the innertube back completely dry
  4. These are shimano 200e models - Citicas and Chronarchs
  5. I clean my own reels and generally get good results But on a couple of my baitcasters, when I cast and the to re-engage the reel, it feels like the pinion engages in but Not all the way. It takes a couple of seconds before it fully engages - almost like it is 2 stages. Obviously it is some part of my cleaning or lubing process that makes this happen. Any ideas??
  6. "the auction site" are you talking about ebay?
  7. Nothin' I like better than smartassin' !
  8. If it's a spinning outfit, I spend more on the rod - you can get a reel that'll do the job for $30 average spinning reel $80-100 average spinning rod $100 -180 If it's a casting outfit, I spend more on the reel and if it's a moderate action casting outfit, I spend Much more on the reel - I can get a $100 rod that'll work for throwing spinnerbaits Casting reels are more complex and more expensive for good quality average casting reel $150-200 average casting rod $80-180
  9. are any of the washers scarred up from being put together wrong before?
  10. Nice Fish and Congratulations! I'm gonna go ahead and take a leap - I don't know if you're keeping those fish, but if you're not, I don't like seeing pictures of bass in the dirt - It just takes away of my enjoyment of your catch. Maybe it's just me - Sorry! Also, I understand if somebody wants to trash me for the comment.
  11. the ZX have a 2 year over the counter unconditional and sell easily. Don't get me wrong, all St Croix's are solid rods but customers are easily won over on the Avid with the beautiful soft cork handle and light wt. The rods that are now on the active list are 5 Crucials, 2 Avids, 2 ZX's, 2 IMX and 2 new Tatulas which are really nice but a few bucks more. The Legend Tournaments are really well made but are tip heavy, IMO. Like Gary Loomis said, I can make a rod that won't break but nobody would enjoy fishing with it.
  12. I compare these rods daily where I work and I can tell you the Avid feels much lighter and I have and would buy the Avid but would buy other rods for less before buying the Rage. The Cabela's Tournament ZX rod is on sale right now for $69.99 and is lighter and better balanced. What's more is we hardly ever sell a Rage. For a little more you could have a Shimano Crucial. The *** and the Abu Veritas are other ones to compare with.
  13. Comparing the Avid to the rage, side by side, the Rage is quite a bit heavier because of the handle
  14. Weber, I've got 3 Citicas that I would like to upgrade - already Fine Reels. What specific bearings and Drags do you like and please, where did you get them? Thanks for your help
  15. That guy's a "crack-up"
  16. "Lexa 300" I wouldn't compare the HD with the curado 300 - with the Lew's Super Duty, maybe The Lexa 300 would be more in the class of the Curado 300, although the Curado is made in Japan _____________________________________________ Right on!
  17. really interested in knowing what the problem ends up being
  18. stuff sucks, honestly think trilene's better
  19. Chronarch 200E7 on a IMX HVY Jig Stk 844C

  21. World Wide Sportsman Shirt - Best Ever!
  22. I don't mind fishing slow if I'm confident the fish are there
  23. I also live in Central Minnesota. I think we're about 3 +- weeks behind due to the harsh Winter. Also, I don't think there are as many baitfish this year, for the same reason. But, yeah, it's different.
