When did green pumpkin become a thing?
I think some of it is a regional thing depending on water. Tannic waters of Florida seem to do better with darker colors like junebug. Clearer waters around me in East Tennessee definitely have better luck with a green pumpkin or watermelon variant. Unless fishing on a moonless night then junebug is better. I also think that the nation’s waters as a whole are clearer than they were forty years ago and that tends to support lighter colored baits as well. At least that’s what I tell myself.

Creek channels/ridge
The google map shot of that lake attached shows a channel that runs through the middle of the pic like a snake. I have no clue about the lake but depending on the age, a lot of old lakes have siltation that sets in and fills in some of the channels if there is not a lot of current to clear them out. That may make it a bit tougher to find hard breaks of channels with electronics once on the lake.

The End of Senko Slinging
I may be wrong but I am assuming you are tossing the senkos weightless. If so, keep the senko and rig it on a 1/8 ounce Shakey head of your choice. That will catch some good numbers and size. That’ll get you familiar with bottom bumping baits for sure then you can branch out to better feel what a t-rig, jig or Carolina rig is doing. You can get weighted wacky heads to rig a senko wacky style. Ned Rig heads and cut down a senko or use one of your old tore up ones, nail weights to learn the neko rig. That senko can do a blue million things and all methods will trick bass. Most important is to give yourself time with new techniques. It is all about time on the water. It’ll come.
