First thing i would do would be find that sweet spot out and away from everybody and make my on brush piles. But if you don't have time for that just watch your graph and search for the brushpiles eveyone else is fishing from. Live bait to me all ways works better for me but i do like fish that jig, must be the bass fisherman in me. Do some homework on crappie. You'll find that even after you locate them they can still be hard to catch. For instatance did you know that crappie will hit a bait moving before hitting one that is just sitting, or that they will only go for bait that is above them and not below they don't bottom feed. Here in AR they are staging outside the flats full of eggs waithing on the right moment to move in and drop those eggs. We caught 30 friday night on yoyos finshing only 2" to a 1ft deep. The biggest just over 2lbs.

nice, we caught 30 on friday night and the biggest was just over 2lbs but my personal best is 3.3lb. 17" lake maumelle just outside LR.

Not sure how things work up north in Ohio but here on Lake Ouachita in Hotsprings a 1 oz. trap took 1st, 2nd and 3rd red craw pattern. Each stringer had one fish over 5lb.s(this was sunday 2/25/07) Wind was about 15- 20 with gust up to 30 mph. fish were about 10 to 15 feet and you had to slow roll on top of the grass to get a bite yoiu had to be sitting in about 20 to 25 ft of water though. air temp of about 46*and water about 45*.

You have nothing to worry about, keep asking questions, just listen to these guys and to your club members it will not take long for you to figure out things you don't do and things you do in the boat. Just remember though that everybody is different and what you got away with in his boat may not be what you get away with in my boat. Good Luck

Getting in a little late to be involved in the roadtrip (how's that work?) but you guys sound like a lot of fun so be safe and have fun for the rest of us who are still at work. Let us know how ya do. By the way, a few years ago we had some things stole out of our boats be sure and lock thing up tight!
