St. Clair today
Wouldn't you know it. Drove 150 miles (with a couple of wrong turns) to fish Lake St. Clair today. Got there around 6:30 AM and paddled into the white caps for 90 minutes until the rain started. Worked up a sweat and then took some clothes back to the truck and headed out again. Made about a hundred casts after paddling back into the wind to get away from the shore about a dozen times and then said to heck with it. Looks like a great lake but just the wrong time for a kayaker to take it on. I will be back Maltese Falcon!!! 8-)

best spinner for smallies
I have caught more fish in my lifetime on Blue Fox #1 gold than the sum of all of the others I have ever used. Trout, bass, crappie, bluegill.....

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. Skillet, it is 15'6" long and 28" wide. They are really a lot of fun and I can fish in water (and go over stumps underwater) of 8" or so. I have it outfitted with 2 rod holders behind the seat and can carry quite a bit of gear. I use a 1.5# anchor and a drift chute. Latching into a 16" smallie is a real hoot. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it is pretty stable. Haven't tipped it over yet, but I just purchased it last summer. Have fished about 30 lakes and 2 rivers. It weighs around 60 pounds empty and I can paddle for quite a few hours before needing to touch land and stretch my legs. Will be adding a fish finder to it soon and a couple more gadgets.

Cold snap
Makes me chuckle. I lived in Wyoming (Green River) for a little over 20 years and I get the same looks in the spring and fall, but this wet-cold of Ohio sure chills one to the bone. I miss a lot of things about Wyoming.
