  1. Hi

Welcome young feller. I just happen to have a 13 yo son named Chad that loves fishing too.
  2. That would be down here in Texas RW. I've never been but it looks like a pretty place: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/martin_creek/
  3. I have not been in a couple years but can tell you to idle once past the bridge. It's a stump fest over there on the far side. Also, the outlet is usually good for a fish or two.
  4. Me for one. The semiconductor industry never rests.
  5. Merry Christmas everybody. It's a great day to enjoy fellowship with family, friends, and to reflect on the blessings of the year. big
  6. I'd like t0 send a big Thank You to LBH for the gift he sent to me. I received a really nice North Face long sleeve shirt. It's no wonder why people love this brand, it's very nice quality. I'd post a pic but my wife took the camera to her mom's for the holidays while I'm working. I'll get one up when she gets back home. Again, thanks to Russ for a very nice surprise!!! big
  7. Thanks to Glenn and the mods for giving us a great place to meet!!! Have a merry Christmas guys!!!
  8. Yes sir, 622 Big Chief on the bottle/Lenco 4spd. I hope to run a local class called Outlaw Top Sportsman that runs off a 4.70 index in the 1/8th. Started out as a full blown Pro Mod but in the time it took to get this far the bump spot for the local fields has fallen into the 4.30's range. big
  9. Here's mine if I can ever finish it.
  10. So was that pretty porch a turbo? What ya rollin in now?
  11. I've got a few, mostly from back in the 80's, some still hurt to this day. 66 Corvette coupe, Nassua Blue, 427/4spd/posi/AC/side exhaust, etc. Sold for $7000 for down payment on my first house back before car prices took off. 69 GTO Judge RAIV/Auto/Silver w black top and interior. 1970 Chevelle SS 396/4spd/posi/ci hood, blue w white stripes and black interior. A 59 Bug Eye that made my wife cry when it went away. 72 Cheyenne Super orange and white SWB. Then there are the ones I didn't or couldn't buy. 64 Corvette AC coupe disassembled $600. 68 Corvette bb roadster, nice running and driving Lemans blue car $4000, Daytona Charger 440 car in primer but driveable, $4000, 71 ZL1 Corvette coupe silver, low mile original car $12000. 4 or 5 grand was alot of money for a kid making under 30K back in those days and one car had to be sold to buy the next. BUT, I did keep a couple. My 59 Corvette and 56 Belair are still with me along with a few newer purchases. big
  12. Welcome to BR from another Lake Fork angler!!!
  13. IMO, they are the best way to punch heavy grass rigged RTR. That's the only time I use them. big

  15. Chris, I'm well aware that CA is THE place for the biggest bass. I was just responding to Avids post in an effort to make everyone aware that there are many places in this region of the state that produce trophy fish.
  16. A dink is a fish too small to get a good pattern off of. Usually under a pound and a half or so. You catch a couple 14" fish and think your on to something until weigh in and everybody else has 4's and 5's, lol. big
  17. Thanks FBL, I'll check them out. big
  18. As Avid says, distance is something we deal with all the time in Texas. From Caddo Lake to Amistad would be something like an 12 hour drive. Everything here seems far away! However, within 100 miles of Lake Fork and it's 18.18 pound state record we have: Lake record lmb Cedar Creek 14.65 Cooper 15.17 Cypress Springs 13.69 Athens 13.81 Fairfield 13.01 also has BIG redfish Sandlin 14.31 Monticello 14.09 Quitman 13.62 Welsh 15.23 Lewisville 13.62 Pat Mayse 14.10 Ray Hubbard 14.10 Ray Roberts 14.59 Chambers 14.25 Texoma 7.06 smallie Whitney 7.72 smallie There are dozens more lakes I didn't list in the same area with similar lake records. 441 bass over 13 pounds have been donated to our fisheries dept. since 1986 for use in hatching fry with superior genetics. Many, many more were just slipped back into the lake after a quick picture. We're blessed around here to have the qualiy of fishing we have. I think you would be pleased with the fishing experience here as well as the low costs and friendly folks. big
  19. My hat's off to these pros. I can't wait to thank them in person for their kindness.
  20. db, that's what I call standing up for what you believe in. My hat's off to you sir! big
  21. a real tournament pro's fishing jersey? I've seen a couple for sale on Ebay but none now. Anybody know about any shops or online stores where I might look to find a KVD, Ike, Ish, Edwin, or whoever authentic jersey? big
  22. I own a 04 Triton aluminum 186 Mag. It's a really nice aluminum bass boat as is the G3. The tracker would be at the bottom of the list. War Eagles are probably the equal of the G3. Xpress is at the top end of the food chain but cost a bit more. Aluminum boats are great for smaller lakes but for a bigger lake a glass boat might be a better choice. I'd like to share a few thoughts about alloy boats with you. On the down side: -- Aluminum boats catch the wind bad, I mean real bad. You will spend twice the time on the trolling motor compared to a glass boat in the wind so be sure it has a good one. -- Aluminum boats dent easily. If you fish lakes with timber and stumps expect to get it dinged up pretty good when the wind catches you and pushes you into something solid. Dents on the bottom of the boat will decrease the top end speed of the boat as well. -- The paint on an aluminum hull scratches easily, much more so than a glass boat. The stickers do not hold up well either. -- The ride is rougher and wetter than a glass boat. -- If you fish many tournaments on big lakes you will regret the lack of speed. On the up side: -- Gas costs to tow the boat and for the boat itself will be much lower than a glass boat. I can fish a full day on two gallons of gas easily unless I want to go boat riding instead of fishing. Fishing out of a big glass boat with a big motor you might find that running WFO is pretty fun, thus the bite is always better farther from the ramp. -- The front deck has lots of space since the front of the boat doesn't tapper like a glass boat. -- Rolling the boat around the garage or yard is easier since the boat it lighter. -- The boat usually is cheaper than glass. -- The boat will go into skinny water. Mine will float in water shallower than the trolling motor prop is tall. -- Aluminum boats usually have more storage space than a glass boat.
  23. Dang Robert! I thought my 6 rods in two days, and a few MG50's was bad. I got off cheap, lol. big
  24. This was my third day on my new job. Is it too early to ask for a week off? I so want to go on this trip!
  25. This really chaps my butt. Here's the email I sent them: Cancel my membership this second and refund the balance of my membership. I will not spend one more penny with BASS nor participate in even one more local BASS event. How could any adult screw children out of a tournament experience with their fishing heros that have already earned? You folks are a bunch of *****!
