Team daiwa Zillion baitcaster thoughts?
Awesome, thank you all for your inputs. Traded a ice rod for this since the guy knows I'm a baitcaster junkie. Gonna try using it with all applications except finesse things and see what I like best with it. Is the carbon drag worth upgrading? Probably gonna be mainly open water fishing with a little bit of dock fishing on the side.

Team daiwa Zillion baitcaster thoughts?
Hey guys, I just traded a rod for this. It is the 7.1 100SHLA model. I know it is quite outdated compared to the all the new reels and but anyone who've owned one care to share their experiences and uses for this reel? It honestly still feels pretty solid and smooth. Looking foward to using it once open water comes back around. Any thoughts or opinions on it are highly appreciated.

Dobyns rod true purpose.
Man I am kicking myself for never thinking of this ever! Got an old lews mach combo that has no purpose no more. Guess you just helped me find a new purpose for it. Gonna experiment with lead weights first though.

Big difference in 200 vs 400 dollar reels?
Depends on how picky you are OP, when it comes to fishing. Some people just wanna get out and anything in the 100s is honestly pretty nice these days. Anything above 200 is just user preference in my opinion. Usually its smoothness, materials, weight, and cosmetic that gets better with price, but whether its worth it is entirely based off the user. Fished with some coworkers that only believed in 100 dollar gears and I let them use both my antares last spring. I did not get it any back until the end of the trip! I won't lie though, base off my experiences, once you get used to one expensive reel its does get a bit hard swapping back to the lesser ones depending on the gap.

Trapper trebles TW sale, worth it?
I bought a bunch a while ago to replace some of my kvd squarebills hooks. I like them a lot, the only issue I've had so far with them is unhooking is sometimes hard because of the design. I fish a lot at night so it does take me quite a bit to unhook a bass depending on where its hooked.

YakAttack or Frabill Bearclaw Net?
I like my bear claw but it does have it's flaws. Fish on a yak with it and it's quite fun to use. Gotta find a rhythm with it though since it is a little different. Range is an issue so you have to get it by the yak or boat to net them. Easy to carry and doesn't take a lot of room though. Easier to use when sitting. I wouldn't use it though if I was standing on the back of my buddies bass boat because it is so much easier to net with a traditional net.

Phenix M1 Casting rod 6'9" med lt
Update on how the rod is so far. Been able to use it a couple of times and as of right now this rod is quite fun. Hook keeper is kinda at an awkward spot but they do offer two. One in the trigger and one at the handle. Sensitivity is good for the price. I was able to throw megabass 110s with no issues. Good backbone for a medium light but I wouldn't use it to fish thick covers. Was able to sorta rip lipless out of the grass which is nice as my G loomis e6 crankbait rod cannot and thats a medium. Not as flimsy as I would have expected it to be. I feel like it could potentially be a great small crank rod or jerkbait rod. Not sure if jigs would be good for it depending on one's hookset. Softer hooksets then maybe yes but trying to send that bass out of the water hooksets probably go heavier action. Will be using it a lot more and I'll try to give updates!

Phenix M1 Casting rod 6'9" med lt
That's very interesting. Gonna be fishing on the yak so hopefully the med light won't be too soft on me otherwise I could turn it into a bfs rod if it's too light.

Phenix M1 Casting rod 6'9" med lt
I love mine too, going strong for a season now and I basically used it 90% of the time! But I do wanna explore phenix rods. Heard good things about them but this model is quite new. Don't know anyone around me who has tried it yet so I was wondering if anyone here tried it.

Phenix M1 Casting rod 6'9" med lt
I actually got my levante back when it was released but with all the things I'm hearing about it breaking I'm a bit worried about getting another one even. Mine has probably been the best rod I've own so maybe I got lucky. Not looking to go too expensive otherwise I would get the orochi jerkbait rod. I've heard good things about the phenix m1 rods and $169 ain't that bad. Also I do like exploring other brands before sticking with one brand to try and find hidden gems among the bunch.

Phenix M1 Casting rod 6'9" med lt
Got a new reel and looking to get a jerkbait rod. The phenix M1 casting rod med lt looks nice but it's quite new and I'm not sure how it is for that type of application. Looking to throw out Megabass 110s and elbos so not too heavy of a jerkbait. Currently throwing it on my Megabass Levante 2019 flatside special which is doing great but I just want to see what the buzz is about a dedicated jerkbait rod. Any insights on that rod would be awesome.

Question for new combo set-up
Okuma citrix does seem like a good reel then. If I'm right doesn't it have a bait clicker or drag clicker also or was that just the komodo? Did you have a power handle on it? Was wondering if that made a difference at all.

Question for new combo set-up
Yeah, now that I'm looking at it the slx most likely isn't a good option. The shimano Cardiff looks does fit my budget more out of those reels. I could look for a used calcutta on ebay too.

Question for new combo set-up
Hey guys, I got $300 to spend and I wanna try out throwing bigger crankbaits. One particular bait that I will be aiming to throw out is the Megabass Big M 4.0 which is 2 oz. Heavier baits in general are a foreign area for me as I mainly fish cranks that are 7/8 oz or lower so I really have no idea what I'm doing. Currently, I am looking at the Shimano SLX XT 6:3:1, but I am a bit worried on how it will handle heavier baits and Spiralite Maverick casting rod 7'10 Med Hvy. Any thoughts or help on this would be highly appreciated.
