  1. I have 3 going into tomorrow and am at #16 overall. But in all likelihood tomorrow won’t be kind.
  2. I thought I picked some safe bets but no. It’s gonna be tough all week I’m guessing with guys finding small pockets here and there. I’m at 6 25 40 65 86
  3. It might depending on where the tear is. If it’s from the hook underneath to the back it should.
  4. Depending on what size swimbait you are using, heating up a ‘spatula’ type dental tool with a lighter allows you to weld bigger cuts back together in the larger baits. Way better than glue in those applications.
  5. Barlows sells some bulk. I wanted owners but gave up on finding them in bulk.
  6. I used to pretie lindy rigs for walleye and tried some dropper rigs for fly fishing. But for drop shots I think it’s a pretty fast tie. I use braid to fluoro so twist isn’t much of an issue. I sometime use the weights that swivel as well. I don’t add swivels anymore at all. A quick palomar on the hook and down through the eye, tie on a weight and you’re good to go. If it snags it breaks at the weight or hook and more money is added to the end of the line.
  7. The guy who won it all last year said he rode his line up through the whole season. Sure would be less work that way.
  8. Hahahaha, that’s funny and you are right
  9. Welcome to Idaho. Defining rocks here is often different from other areas in the country. You don’t find cobble rock very much and the rock you will find is lure eating chunk basalt rock. If you are going to C rig you will have to learn the fish finder to find what areas it will work and areas that will just take your lure. You also learn to really interpret the shoreline when deciding what lure type to throw. You won’t be fishing vegetation much and I really only throw on identified fish. I throw a c rig some but only in select areas and for largemouth. Dworshak is a smallmouth lake and drop shooting is king in the rocks. At least there you only lose a weight. I wouldn’t invest in fancy weight systems and just stick with mainly cylinder weights. A good lure retriever is a must as well. I mostly fish south of you but will be happy give you what info I know.
  10. For the record, I did pick some tournaments last year, just not in groups. Don’t want anyone digging into my sordid past and accusing me of being a cheat ?. I was confused on how points were assessed since people talk about picking lower percentage anglers over higher percentage anglers for a better score. But after this round it doesn’t appear to make any difference in point standings, just a gamble on beating the players by picking a ‘dark horse’ who pulls off an upset. As usual, I overthunk it. It looks as if tiebreaker #1 affected this tournament but not the overall league standing. If that was the case I should be #4 in league as well. Maybe they input all the tiebreakers into the machine for a result.
  11. Ok, there are 2 ranking systems. I took 4th in the St. John’s tournament and 9 in the overall league standings. Don’t understand it at all. My weight guess was the closest but that must not factor into the overall league score. So confusing... and I doubt I will improve.
  12. Thank you. I don’t fully understand the final tally with players tied with points. Thought it was determined by the players closest to the winners total weight but I was mistaken. I was off 3 oz.. Anyway, this was likely my best hurrah in picking for the remainder of my days. Now gotta try the Tennessee River picks.
  13. I can’t imagine the pressure of waiting to see if the fish move up like previous days versus running to a new spot.
  14. Hey A-Jay. I was stationed at Traverse City on H-3’s many moons ago. Loved it up there.
  15. Hackneys waiting for those fish to move up like yesterday. Question is whether they do or not. Seems like the fishing is changing pretty fast day to day down there.
  16. Come on now, the rookie deserves a chance.
  17. Another divot in the gel coat because the designers of some boat docks at the ramp have never owned a boat. And ramps with no protection. Nothing like coming back in after a day out and seeing 2 footers rolling over the dock and ramp. With me being a solo boater most of the time.
  18. I never considered the weather or other factors. I feel so far out of place in southern fisheries it’s not in my comfort zone. Granted, I understand the factors involved, but I’m not used to lake or river systems that are so big that something like the weather affects various locations so differently. Take the St. John’s system, bass are in all all phases of the spawn there and since it is far more shallow than I fish, bass could be anywhere given the day. I guess that favors some anglers if they hit the location that has patterns that best fit their strengths. Take Hackney today, flipping Cypress trees for him is well...
  19. Not a great number of fisheries around me, hence the fact I want to move in a couple years. I’m at 2 hrs. for a couple lakes I fish the most.
  20. Mmm, ok. Thanks for letting me know. Just signed up for a number of groups. Can’t hurt to try.
  21. My apologies, I didn’t mean this group. Just the overall awards from Rapala if I’m reading it right. Probably won’t matter anyway after tomorrow. I need Hackneys fish to move off beds.
  22. I made my picks a week and a half ago or so. I never knew there were groups until yesterday. Don’t worry, the trend won’t last. I didn’t realize they gave out weekly prizes. I thought it was and end of the year awards only.
  23. I’m in, don’t understand all the strategery involved but I’ll give it a shot
