Baitcast vs. Spinning
I use both my baitcasting and spinning rigs about the same amount. Although I have different uses for both setups. For finesse fishing I use my spinning gear. For power fishing I use my baitcaster. But, if I had to choose only 1 to use for the day. It would definitely be my baitcaster.

Pfluger Reels
President! I have 3 Presidents, 2 baitcasters and spinning rig. I cannot say enough good things about them. ;D

Senkos weighted or weightless??
I always throw them weightless, t-rigged 5" Senko with a 4/0 hook and have always pulled a lot of bass in with them. 8 times out of 10 when i cast out, they hit it hard on the fall. IMO adding weight to a Senko completely kills the action

Booyah Boogee Bait
I had picked up a few of these a while ago, and fished them quite a few times. I have never had so much as a strike on these. I've fished them fast, slow, stop and go. Nothing. I was very disappointed with them

Sunglasses?
I've had a pair of Oakley Half Jackets for a while now. "Chrome" mirrored faced polarized lenses. They are made to the specs of most safety goggles so they are extra tough. They've been kicked, stepped on, dropped, thrown, sat on. And they still look brand new. I love them. Almost lost them last week though, I forgot I had them on my cap and I slung my cap off chasing a horse fly. They flew out about 7 foot away from the boat and started sinking fast. Luckily I was able to reel my lure in, hook them with the treble and pull them back in. The wife would have killed me since they were a Christmas gift from her :-X

Poor Kitty
Oh man, when it first came on I was thinking, "Who do these guys think they are, the Blue Angels?" haha. I LOVE those guys. They did a show here to Tupelo MS years ago and it was the most amazing thing that I have ever seen. Year after year I look at their website, in hopes of seeing my town on their show list again. But, no :'( I really wish they would come back. Nice video, I wish I could be so lucky as to be able to watch them fly from my house.

The so called "Bad Cast"
I made one of these bad casts last Friday morning. When I tried casting out, but did not see the small low overhanging limb from a pine tree behind me. BAM my BC exploded in my hand, I have never had a backlash that bad. My Senko went about 5 feet into the water, a few seconds later it took off. I caught a good looking little 2lb'er

ANY GOOD BASS VIDEO GAMES OUT THERE??
I got the Rapala game for my Xbox 360 back last week, and to be honest, it sucked. I was bored within the first 15 minutes of playing it. Like paleo said, you can only use cranks. You can choose from a small assortment of different lines, rods, and reels to fish with. But it doesnt matter what gear you choose to fish, they made no difference from what I could tell. They give you a few big lakes to fish, but add boundaries for how far you can go(not far at all). I havent played or found any good fishing games since the old school "Black Bass" from years back. I will have to check out the Bass Pro game, I have never seen it. Was it for the 360 or original Xbox? J_Young

overhand casting
I had the same problem when I first learned how to use a baitcaster. The quality of my equipment had alot to do with it. I had a beat up Shakespear Sigma BC, and could NOT for the life of me cast overhand with it. I wouldnt even attempt it with that reel even today. I fished with the reel for years, and then got a Plfueger President. As soon as I spooled the Plfueger up, I made an overhand cast and it was the most amazing thing in the world to me, it didnt backlash, it went where I wanted it to. I was very happy. For me its all in the wrist. When I cast, I snap my wrist and try not to use a lot of arm power after the 12 o'clock position while I am bringing my rod tip forward to cast. I generally let 6"-7" hang below my rod tip(6" being the rule of thumb). Just be sure to adjust your tension correctly and make small casts first before you try to empty your spool on the long bombs!

Learning to fish on your own
I also had to teach myself to fish. I had virtually no friends that fished, and by the time I got interested in bass fishing, my Dad had lost interest so he never offered to help me learn and I didnt ask for much advice. I just spent a lot of time in small ponds around my folks house with an old beat up Zebco 33 and a no name rod just trying to figure out what the heck I was trying to accomplish. I still think that I have no idea what I am doing, I am by no means an "expert" at all. I thought that I had a good idea about what I was doing until I found sites like this. With so many people who know their stuff, reading what they say I realized that there is a whole world outside of what I thought I knew. I learn something new every time I visit these boards.

Best all around line
Thanks skillet!! Well I ended up getting a 600yd spool of Yo-Zuri. I was telling my wife about this line before she went to Wal-Mart, she called me and told me that they had what I wanted. I told her to pick me up a spool and she gets back, and its #15 and not ultra soft :-/ Looks like I am going to have to take it back, and hopefully exchange it for #12 ultra soft. I guess thats what I get for sending her into the fishing section where she has no idea what shes looking at lol. Thanks for all of the replies!!

Best all around line
Hey fellas, thanks for the quick replies! I'll take note of the line recommendations and check on them. Since someone asked, my reel is a baitcaster. But, I hope that soon I will be able to pick up a Plfueger spinning reel also. And thanks for the warm welcome too! I signed up here earlier in the year, then my wife and I had a baby boy(1st baby) soon after. So my internet time has been cut down drastically because of the new edition. Hes a hand full!

Best all around line
I was wanting to hear you guys opinions on the best all around line. I only have the luxury of owning 1 rod and reel, a Pflueger President with 6'6" MH rod. So everything that I fish, is on the same line. I mostly fish spinnerbaits, crankbaits and top waters with a walk the dog action. With the occasional T-rigged worm threw in every now and then. For a while now, I have been fishing with 10lb Vanish gold. But know there are better lines to suit my needs out there. Any advice is appreciated! J_Young
